Sony gets no benefit from Movies and music.
The biggest investors in Sony want them to sell those businesses - all they do is lose money.
Why is sony making further losses this year?
Sony will never be niche because its a one size fits all console - no matter what you want to do, the PS4 does it better than the xbone!

I have not purchased any of the current consoles (ps4/xbone).
I have to say this is swaying me more and more to the ps4 when I go to buy one in the near future.
There are soo many things right with the ps4 - every reason why its better, is due to lessons learnt from the ps3 and MS royally screwing the console launch.
Anyone with a PS4 will really be cherishing everything they are getting!
Outside of the Playstation - Sony has very little brand reputation.
The mobile division is making massive strides at coming back strong - they actually do have really great phones and tablets but the sony version of the android is quite clunky - read the reviews.
The biggest loss leader is the TV business - the competition is just doing better.

MS can afford to lose many money, they have a bottomless wallet.
But from a PR? /Brand image perspective, they are pretty low right now - so it will not make a massive difference if its a shambles.
If you look at MS - they are at a low brand rating to gamers, not to the general public.
They are being embraced by business (Not win8, but win server 2012 etc), i mean even head of apple said IPad sales have increased ...

The problem I found with the game,
They updated the game engine but not some other bits of the game like spawn points etc.
If I play any number of good teams they will simply spawn trap the entire team, I have been doing that since COD MW, these games a literally the same with different graphics from that perspective.

@Axios - Cloud will work at some point, but its too early for it to work for the mass market.
The limiting factor is a users internet speed which will fluctuate at different times.
If you were a business that uses Azure - like I do for work, we have a fixed leased line so we get 1gbps up/down all the time and azure processes large batch operations in SQL, CRM etc..
Ive said it before, Ive deployed a 'cloud' model at customer sites who have 1gb...
I think ram and GPU were the limiting factors.
Those are the 2 main hardware culprits that get superseded by incremental upgrades in technology/ firmware and software.

The pc has a few more textures than the one, but the difference between xbone and 360 is not as big as I would have thought.

To an extent that was the case with the PS3, the CPU was miles ahead of its time compared to the xbox 360 and in many platform exclusives it really outshone the xbox, but in many multiplats it was a different story.
Yes graphics are important, but for example if you were to go play knights of the old republic today (released 2003) would you say its a bad game because the graphics are pretty awful compared to todays standards?

I think its a phased migration, some people have only recently purchased the last gen (360/ps3) consoles. FOr them its worth less to make the crossover now.
Many others will be waiting for the right time to buy. The jump is not as significant yet, but with the devs getting better at programming on the one,ps4 the jump will increase and cause more people to flock over.
The last gen was a little too long, so I am sure many people just got used to the consoles they had. ...
Its just regional marketing, you (in the US) get to pay for XBL in dollars which works out significantly cheaper than what people in the UK pay.
There needs to be some give and take here, due to the currency difference.
In some cases the US gets games earlier than Europe etc..

If kinect was an option, which reduced price to a customer very few would take the option of leaving it in.
Seriously lots of people do not want it because its adding about 80-100 on the RRP/MRSP.
Mixing three different arguments is unlogical,
youve mixed people not wanting kinect to save money with people not liking kinect.
Those are 2 separate events for the vast majority of potential buyers.
@Illionaire - Whilst I do think kinect is a waste (For me), you have to admit the response of the in game character was pretty sharp.
Now I do know the video lag of the camera, but it does seem pretty responsive.

Ive been purchasing GTA since the very first game.
However I will not be buying this on release.
Might wait for the PC GOTY release.
Bits of this game dont feel rushed, but left out.
I loved the single player, but I cant be the only one who found it quite short.
This is all down to a change in executives!
I mean I absolutely was against the Xbone with kinect,
at least with a change in senior management we are now seeing real change to the Xbone.
I mean the paywall will be gone from next month, free games with gold for both xbone and 360.
This is nothing but good news, it has (to an extent) restored my confidence in MS - hence why I purchased my 360 all those years ago.
I would still prefer the PS4 over the Xbon...
