with > $2000 worth of PC hardware.
I'll stick with a close facsimile such as Haze on < $600 game console that needs no expensive upgrade.
They are exclusives for their respective consoles. You can't get one on the other console.
They are not multiplatform so they are not competing against each other.
If you have both consoles then you could possibly say they are competitors but you're most like to buy both so again, no competition.
The other being games and net service.
There are millions of Ps2 owners waiting for the right price and the games to finally migrate and join the fraternity.
Yeah, Sony was really useless at keeping the lid on Killzone 2 for the last 2 years.
Since all the facts about KZ2 are out already, guess there's no need to check out E3.
NOT!!!!
@AKA
Fact is 5 years from now all three consoles will be ridiculously cheap and most gamers will have all three - except the fanboys, of course.
But here and now, there's still alot of brand loyalty out there and when the price is right, there're alot of quality games and a great net service then those owners will buy the brand they trust.
I for one will eventually get all three.
But it is inevitable that it will catch up and surpass the xbox 360. It is afterall cheaper and has its novel gameplay/controller.
But the real interesting thing about the chart is the slope of the Ps3 is pretty much the same as the xbox 360.....except that the xbox started its sales climb a year early WITHOUT any next-gen competition or the Wii.
Makes you wonder.....
Notice also how there was a jump in sales of the xbox 360 about a year after rele...
Although the quantity of sales means little to world sales, it is the trends that matters. Australians in many ways share similarities socio-economically, politically and somewhat culturally with North American & Europe - two major markets.
If you identify certain treads occuring in Australia with respect to gaming, it is very likely to also show up in Europe and the US. You wouldn't be able to do this with Japan.
Now do you understand? Good.
nov 2005:
xbox 360 was released with no next gen competition - market to itself It would be a year later that the wii & Ps3 were released.
nov 2006:
Ps3 released against an ESTABLISH next-gen console(xbox 360) that had an existing large selection of games + a novel and more advanced old-gen console(Wii) that is half the price.
Do the maths.
13 weeks is not bad considering THE COMPETITION and PRICING.

It might have rumble but no one's forcing you to buy it.
When you bought your Ps3 you knew its controllers had no rumble.
So if you want rumble then buy it otherwise enjoy what you've bought.
If all games were available on all consoles(next-gen) - optimized for the hardware not a half-hearted port - then the game aspect of the War of the Consoles would be moot.
Then it will all be a matter of PRICE & QUALITY of product and service
...and as we all know, consoles prices are always high at first but the price does drop...
....so it's really down to quality of hardware and services.
This is so much fun to speculate.
And in a few days we'll finally find out once and for all who's was right & wrong.
Have your hats at the ready. I'll get the napkin and cutlery.

Hey, I've always said it. Lair looks good but the gameplay/AI seems sh11te.

Sony doesn't need to dramitcally reduce its price as its still only 8 months old and the bulk of quality games(Warhawk, KZ2, Uncharted, MS, R&C, etc) have yet to be released. Yet it was still able to sell over 3 million consoles.
The doomsayers are all too eager to jump the start and declare a failure of a console that has a projected life span of 6-9 years. Foolish.
In time - yes, wait beyond! - the price will drop and an impressive library of games be built...
@ktchong
After all your ramblings about microsoft's wealth and monopolistic practises you still continue to dish on Sony and praise Microsoft.
Will wonders never cease? Or should I say, will common sense ever prevail? Apparently not wirh you.
Hey, if you love monopolistic practises then you just keep on praising.
Rumble is now an established standard for any controller.
But it was during the **LAST GEN** of game consoles that rumble achieved it status as a standard.
Motion control is **NEXT GEN** Both the wiimote and sixaxis will show this generation that motion control should also be a standard for controllers - like analogue, Dpads, triggers, rumble etc. In ten years time motion control will be last gen BUT will be included as a standard for future controllers.

Like you've seen the results of rushed jobs like Motorstorm and RFOM
Like you've seen the trailers of established and respected franchises FF & MGS
Like you've seen gameplay from coming IPs Little Big Planet, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword.
Like you've seen the soon to be release Haze and the many similarities it shares with KZ.

over GTA. Undoubtedly will be a hit. But I believe this franchise is not getting the kudos it deserves.
I'm still playing Mercenaries on my old xbox. Can't get over what a great game it truly is. Just love stealing a chopper or tank - reluctantly ordering in one if need be - for contracts.
Honestly, it's as good as Halo 2 for gameplay and graphics....especially when in a high hover in the chopper and being shot at by RPGs and tanks. Simply awesome for old gen t...
There was no Ps3 version back then so if you didn't have an xbox 360 you had to wait.
I still won't be buying my xbox 360 for another year when everything will be cheap.
Admittedly, I'd probably buy the multiplatform shooters optimized/developed on the xbox 360 ahead of the Ps3, due to the controller and the more effort put in by developers for the games.
So r u saying they didn't have valid points for deducting 1.3 points?
That's why it's a review.
Their final verdict:
* "...there's a whole lot to this package and it shouldn't be passed up."
* 8.7 Great
Now if that's pretty negative then damn the tards to hell. lol
Which games from that list do you think would fit that criterior?
