Motion control is ideal for shooters - ie fast aiming - so clearly MS would develop one for their shooter-centric xbox.
I'll buy day one.

I'm a Ps360 gamer and have been a console gamer since the Ps1.
I've enjoyed Gears, Halo, Bioshock, RFOM, RB6, CoD4 etc using the traditional controller but have always been peeved on how slow it is to target using traditional analogue sticks - routinely resulting in moving to give me time to target. Play-mote(a better version of the Wii-mote) for the Ps2 would equal if not better the Wii in sales - mainly due to price & games.
Tough decision for Sony. Should they get a couple more years life out of the Ps2 or start to focus on the Ps3?
People assume a Play-mote will copy exactly the Wii-mote.
Sony needs only to copy the proven good things, get rid of the bad, modify, adapt and produce something better - the process of deltanization - when they make the Play-mote.
The Play-mote should be essentially a normal controller split in two with rumble and sixaxis in each section. You should then be able to switch on/off the use of motion control: use the analogue sticks only - OR - motion control only - OR ...
Clearly there are some merits in the wii-mote/n-chuck combo - that being gamers become more involved with gameplay.
If Scott Steinberg thinks its a gimmick then he's an idiot.
This is the future of controllers.....or the way to go.
I can almost guarantee the xbox 720 will have an x-mote as Microsoft has a habit off copying and making improvements on things that work or have huge potential.
Then we'll watch Scott make a hasty retraction.

The Ps3 needs the right price and the Play-mote(a better version of the Wii-mote and N-chucks) to finally start to challenge the Wii.
The xbox 360 base will likely max out at around 30 million
BUT
that install base buys alot of games.
So, if this is true in anyway, it'll probably be a reduction if not elimination of console stocks while maintaining xbox 360 game stocks.

it's going to be a solid game but nothing spectacular.
Problem is, recent AAA shooters and pending sequels have now set the bar high for what is expected of a shooter these days.
Haze covers most bases but it needs to cover all(more vehicles(tank, copter), next gen graphics, destructible environment, map modding, more character actions(sprint, roll, cover)) to make it really stand out.

The xbox 360 will clearly dominate gta game sales
and the ps3 will better the 360 in console sales...due mainly to traditional gta fans who don't have a next gen console yet, have a ps2 ownership background.
As for GeoW2, it will be like Halo3 - you just can't compete against a good game with a huge diehard fan base.
But like Halo3, Bioshock, Mass Effect, GREAT exclusives aren't going to result in significant console sales if you already have that consol...

GG just isn't as experienced and skilled as Insomniac, Naughty Dog or the likes which is why they are taking so long getting the game right.
We'll be extremely lucky to get it this year and to be honest, I'd prefer they take their time and get everything perfect for a 2009 release.
Afterall, we'll definitely get R2 this year and that's enough.
There's no excuse anymore for expensive next gen release consoles that are sold at a loss.
The Wii is cleaning up by bringing in the Casual Gamer with great price, fun gameplay(the Wii-mote) and respectable performance.
GT5 is showing that the PS3 will likely achieve in many games, near photo realistic graphics within four years. Once that is achieved then it will be the minimal standard for any future console.

XP/Windows is owned by Microsoft and written mainly for the x86 architecture NOT the Cell.
Linux can operate on a multitude of devices from cell phones, media players, PCs, Macs, SuperComputers or Mainframes and game consoles.
Windows won't write a version for the Ps3 simply because Sony is a competitor for the game console market - xbox vs playstation - which Microsoft obviously wants to dominate and monopolize as they have with Windows on PCs.

Just use OpenOffice.org(has excel,word,access & ppt equivalents) for free on a Ps3 linux install as there's no way in hell Microsoft will ever port Windows to the Playstations.
