I don't understand the comparison with Second Son. They are two very different games. A cinematic TPS should offer a higher image quality than an open world sandbox game.
IMO both games look astounding for different reasons. It was like the whole KZ vs Ryse debate.
Ahh, just to clarify a miss information that has been repeated several times in this discussion.
4×MSAA is in no way the same as rendering a native 4k image and then down scaling to 1080p (johny5 I'm looking at you clown)
That technique is called super sampling (MSAA is an evolution of this technique and offers the same results but without the massive performance hit)
Here is a good article explaining basic MSAA techniques.
Only on a 4k display. So what is the point. Do you own a 4k display? If so lucky you. But what about the other 99.9% of PS4 owners?
Plus pushing a 4k resolution is MUCH more demanding than 1920×800 with 4×MSAA. 4k resolution with frame rates in the single digits!? Noobs.... sigh.
I for one applaud RAD for having the vision to try something different with the unconventional aspect ratio. It's about time some developers start looking outside the box.
I think the choice of 1920×800 and 4×MSAA is a master stroke. It allows for the same pixel density as a full HD image, but still leaves enough processing power available to run 4xMSAA at what I hope will be a locked 30fsp.
The visual fidelity that this game will present will...
Not necessarily. The PS3 handled 3d fine. Games took a small performance hit. Mostly a slight drop in resolution. But both UC3 and GT5 (the two games I spent a lot of time playing in 3d) looked awesome in 3d.
The VR viewer (if it happens) will probably display native 720p anyway for two reasons. One to reduce the cost, and two to allow for the extra processing overheads to not affect the games performance.
DriveClub would be the perfect title to showcase this tech (if it happens) being able to look around a virtual car interior would be amazing. And it would appeal to a much wider demographic than say a FPS.
This headset combined with a good force feedback wheel and pedal combo!! OMG.... words cannot express my excitment.
I have my fingers crossed that the eighth generation will be defined by the emergence of VR into the main stream.
Look this site needs to move on from the resolution/frame rate articles. Enough is enough. The PS4>Xbox1 hardware. We get it.
It's only an issue if you make it an issue. The same games will release for bothered systems. Both versions will play great and look miles better than previous gen. Just because one looks a bit better. Who gives a crap!
If you own a PS4 (like myself) then you should be happy that it will have awesome looking games. If you own a...
MS will never release a Kinectless Xbox1. They have invested way too much into it's development and it's far too integrated into the system. It would be a backward step anyway. At the moment, ironically, Kinect is one of the few things the Xbox1 has going for it.
What they need to do is focus on expanding the Kinect experience to make it "worth" the asking price. The Xbox1 hardware will always be weaker than PS4. It's pointless to try and change that. Th...
Anyone who is still expecting parity between the the PS4 and Xbox1 is delusional.
The PS4 will always have the advantage in multi plats. It doesn't mean the Xbox1 will offer a bad experience, it just means the PS4 will always offer a slightly better one (visually)
Time to move on people. Accept it as reality and how about we discuss something other than frame rates and resolution.
Supper excited for this. I just hope they can walk that fine line between realism and accessibility. I love the Grand Turismo series to bits. Easily my favorite racing games off all time (well after Wipeout2097 that is. Wipeout2097 is the perfect game IMO)
But I digess. GT is awesome. But you need to spend a lot of time with it to get the most out of it. And a decent wheel setup really makes or breaks the experience. Once I used a nice force feedback wheel. I hated playing w...
Now before I start a flame war. This is just my opinion. Their like assholes people. We've all got one :-)
And we are all entitled to voice it. Now as an owner of both a PS4 and an Xbox1. I gotta say "yes" so far the Xbox1 is a disappointment for me. I didn't injoy the launch exclusives, the multi plats I obviously buy on PS4. And I still use my PS3 and the PS3 Media Server intalled on my PC for all my TV/media streaming tasks.
KINECT is a g...
Ahh. Aren't these screens just captured from the E3 demo footage from last year. I watched the demo again and could pick out all three shots.
Was hoping for some fresh screens. So excited for this game.
I'd love to sit down and spend 10-15min playing each version. Its rare to have all four consoles set up in one room, let alone running 4 copies of the same game.
A have all four consoles but could never afford to set them up like that!
After hyping this game so much, I really hope they can deliver. I'm assuming the pics they have been releasing are for the PC version with all the bells and whistles. I just hope they don't have to sacrifice too much fidelity to run at acceptable frame rates on various console hardware.
If the racing mechanics are as stellar as the visuals they've shown thus far then I guess I can forgive some rough edges on lesser hardware. Though I'm still hoping for at leas...
Oh please can w have a good Aliens game! I've been waiting so long to get one. Colonial Marines was my biggest let down last year.
Screw doing a movie tie in. All they need is Marines with pulse rifles, xenomorphs, and solid shooting mechanics for a winning title.
The amount of Alien universe lore that exist they have absolutely no excuse not to come up with an killer original story.
I'm actually hoping this is true. I would buy Skyrim on PS4. I played the crap out of it on PC. But would happily play through again.
I could give a f'k if it was 12 or 120 player cap. A well designed game will be fun either way. Currently my favorite BF4 mode is Defuse. Epic fun and guess what. Very low player caps. I almost never play the 64 player servers. They shit me.
The deal breaker for me is the bots. I'm sorry but for me Bots = fail.
They either end up being useless cannon fodder or ninja/jedi hybrids that head shot you from across the map.
Every single FPS...
I'm sorely disappointed that there is no support for 3D at all so far for the next gen. Games like KZ3, UC3, Resistance 3 were all epic in 3D.
I mean the next gen can't even do 3D Blurays, WTF!
Very lazy IMO
I've never really gotten into MMO's. Tried a few and never got hooked.
I'm hoping it does well enough to cover it's cost, but have no intention of playing. I say bring on TES6. Considering what they achieved on aging hardware with skyrim. The next game sould be epic.
I'm hoping for a true open world this time. No loading for dungeons. Just one masive open world. Fingers crossed they can also realize their vision of a truly living world. ...
As an overall package (graphics, sound, story, gameplay, controls ect) TLOU is truly a masterpiece. The crowning jewel in the ps3 library and a fitting end to the last gen consoles. The praise is well deserved.
Kudos to Mr Spencer for being honest and humble enough to acknowledge a rival companies success. We need more of this from the industry in general.
