Crappy GOW/UC3 shooting mechanics?!? Really? I sorry but I'll wait to play it and judge myself thankyou.
For starters, both GOW and UC have some of the best TPS mechanics ever. UC3 in particular had magnificent controls and the shooting/cover system was a joy to play.
Look like sites are just trying to find any little negative thing to blow out of proportion chasing hits.
From all the gameplay vids I've seen the "shooting mechani...
Wow. 1080p is crisp! The Xbox1 version doesn't look bad by any stretch. But the image is much softer.
On a positive note. I've gotta say the Xbox1 scaler is looking much improved after the removal of that sharpening filter.
The great news I take from this. All versions of the game look awesome. This is proof that Hideo Kojima is still as masterful as ever. And he delivered on his promises that the fox engine could delver sensational visuals on 7th g...
@T1000
The thing is Mate. If RAD were happy to run the game @ 1920x1080 with FXAA, it probably would run at 45-60fps.
The point is RAD have made a conscious design choice to target 30fps and 1920x800 so they can implement 4xMSAA.
I don't know where all this "all PS4 games run @ 1080p 60fps" BS is coming from.
Not to mention your precious Xbone would be in the single digit FPS in it tried to run The Order.
Its all about the final IQ mate.
Yes its not the same pixel count as 1920x1080 but it is the same pixel density. ROD made a conscious decision to go for that aspect ratio for two main reasons.
1. The wider aspect ratio (same as many BD movies) lends a certain cinematic "feel" to the visuals.
2. The drop in pixel count allow for then to implement 4xMSAA (instead of simpler post process AA) this will equate to a very high IQ, much hi...
1920X800 FTW!! If RAD can deliver this resolution with a rock solid 30fps and 4XMSAA I'm sold.
I applaud RAD for thinking outside the box. The wider aspect ratio will allow for a more cinematic feel as well as a better FOV (field of view) Plus if it means they can implement 4xMSAA then we are in for a real visual treat. I've been saying for ages that FXAA is no longer acceptable for the 8th gen. Time for developers to move on.
If RAD can pull this of...
I agree the hype for Titanfall is huge. And with good reason, it looks like a blast.
But here is the thing. It's not an Xbox1 exclusive. Most X360 users will buy on 360 rather than shell out for an Xbox1. PC users will just buy on PC.
It would be different if the Xbox1 version of the game was the definitive version and was in some way mind blowing and "must have", but sadly it's not.
It's not a big enough jump visually o...
Getting really hyped for ths game!
The visuals are looking awesome, I especially love the art style (creepy creature designs are unique and fresh).
Combat is also shaping up well. The fact that you can target specific body parts and block attacks with your own and stagger opponents give it a meaty visceral feel. Still seems a little clumsy, but a definite improvement on the last game play video I saw. Those fire effects are still looking as impressive as ever...
PC obviously!? Because this will be closer to reality for the final build.
PC 1600p 120fps, Xbox1 792p 60fps (wait they are getting 8% more GPU performance so 855p) Xbox360 720p 60fps.
Xbox1 will never achieve 900p 60fps with the same assets as the beta build. Simple math. 792p -900p is a 30% increase in pixel count. Even with the new SDK they will only net another 8% GPU power. 30% bump in pixel count needs a 30% increase in processing power to maintain the...
Wait, what! A game improves from an alpha to beta release!? Wow, who would a thought......
Who the f'k approves this shit.
Dude. They are different hardware. They are different specs. They perform differently because of that. No amount of SDK updates and software trickery will change that. Nor will more familiarity with the hardware, as the devs get better results over time with the Xbox1 hardware they will also get better results over time with the PS4 hardware.
The gap will always be there and honestly I can see the PS4 pulling further ahead because of it's unified RAM and it's excelle...
Don't think they'll manage to get it to 900p. That is quite a jump from 792p!
Almost a 30% increase to be exact! 900p (1,440,000 pixels) vs 792p (1,115,136 pixels). Now they say the new sdk will free up an additional 8% of GPU all well and good. But a 30% increase in pixels will require a 30% increase in processing power to maintain the same fps with the same assets.
They will never drop the frame rate (with good reason) so it means assets will be r...
If it was an Xbox1 exclusive maybe. But most people will buy this for PC or XB360. It's not reason enough to buy an Xbox1.
To push some major Xbox1 numbers MS need a killer Xbox1 exclusive. And I don't see anything on the horizon that fits the bill.
Halo 5 maybe? But that is a long way off. And may be too little too late.
I would be very interested to see a complete spec comparison between the PS4's APU and the new cards.
The APU in the PS4 and Xbox1 do vary quite a bit from off the shelf PC GPU's though.
The PS4's Asynchronous Compute capabilities far exceed that of a comparable off the shelf GPU thanks to SONY and AMD customizing the silicone specifically to suit a game console. A few unique features are listed below.
An additional dedicated 20 ...
I actually knew about this about a month ago. The penny dropped when I was still using PS plus a month after launch without being prompted to subscribe.
I remembered that I clicked twice on the "claim 14 days free" link and was perplexed as to why it didn't say I had already claimed.
I didn't bother with the loophole because I got a 12 month subscription for xmas from the missus. But I had told my PS friends about it and some of them had m...
Pretty sure the source engine would struggle with destructability on that scale. The engine simply does not allow for BF4 levels of destruction.
It would have been nice but not on the source engine. There is a reason DICE developed frostbite. It is built from the ground up for destructability in mind.
This games should still be a blast with all its limitations. But I still not sure that the aging source engine was the best choice. There are many other game e...
I'm pretty sure that the PS4 auto updates if you have the option ticked. There have been several updates since launch and I can't remember having to do them manually.
There is just a notification to say that an update was installed. It all happens in the background even if the system is in standby mode.
Keep Kinect. Drop the price anyway (M$ can afford a smaller profit margin FFS) and spend some money to develop some killer software for Kinect.
Kinect is vital to the success of the Xbox1. It needs it to offer something it's competitor doesn't. Because its weaker hardware, higher price and lack of "must have" games leave it looking like a poor choice for consumers. Kinect has massive potential, but for some reason M$ seems to have forgotten it.
Lols. MS really need to do something interesting with Kinect. It's well on it's way to becoming the biggest hardware flop in history.
MS hyped the crap out of Kinect and it's delivered nothing! I'd be happy to use it if the software existed to utilize it. But so far nothing. Not even anything announced to look forward to. It's like MS have given up on Kinect too.
I don't think M$ are real worried personally. The Xbox division such a small portion of the company that it's success or failure ultimately has very little bearing on the company's overall profitability.
Sony have far more riding on the PS4. It's success or failure will have major ramifications for the company as a whole.
Anyway. The $100 cash back if you trade your PS3 is poor strategy anyway. Most PS gamers are likely to stick with a PS4 t...
Ummm. Larger install base + easier to develop for = win
Common sense really?!
