Come up with a mathematical algorithm to define a dog.
A 2 year old can identify one, but you'll have a hell of a time getting your computer to know the difference.
From my experience there is very little speed difference. I have NEVER had Vista crash. Sure, a game may lock up, etc, but I can always get out of the trouble with task manager. I couldn't do this is XP, and it would often crash.
Just my own experience.
PS - I do love Supreme Commander.
Vista still doesn't support my hardware! I even tried upgrading to the 2001 drivers!

Good idea, allow players to hide weapons from view, so they don't have to bother with them while in game.
Bad idea, allow players to permanently delete weapons, and then can NEVER regain them, in anyway.

I discovered an exploit in Tribes 2 back in they day on PC. I quickly began spending more time scripting and exploring the possibilities of the exploit rather than play the game. I feel like less of a loser because I discovered it myself, and I programmed (or scripted in this case) my own cheat.
Later they fixed the exploit, and I was happy. It was time to start enjoying the game again. Even though it was fun to do all that scripting and have a real useful purpose for it.
Release on PC, you get pirated.
Release on console, you'll entertain the renters for a weekend.

I bet someone will take this idea and run with it though. The good judge probably wont be too happy that gamers love going to jail, beating even more people up in jail, and then escaping from jail. A jail break in GTA would be awesome!

Seriously, I read most of that and it was a good read. Can't really disagree with any of it. Although I've never played a Blizzard game, and if SC2 goes the route of the nickel and dime, I probably never will. :(
Make it cheaper for businesses to contract with you.
It's all about market share. If they can teach every school child and their parents to use MS Office, then the employers are going to be forced to contract with MS and use their Office software.
This will be cheaper than the alternative which is training all employees to use a new Office suite.
