It has to go gold within a week or so to make its release date. Usually a month is required to press and distribute enough copies of a game like this.

New consoles aren't more powerful than high end PCs. Even when 360 launched it was no match for a single X1800XT, never mind crossfire. But obviously that is the point a generation of consoles is closest to PC.

In the case of Wii U, i am sure it will be quite a lot more powerful than PS3 and 360, but at the same time some way short of high end PC hardware by the time it arrives.

A new 28nm GPU generation that will nearly double the power of a GTX580 will ...

I have been on the incrysis forums and seen again, solid evidence that the latest shots simply aren't from the console build.

This is because someone compared the draw distance on the PC version on very high, increased it to max via tweaks, then showed the distance on gameplay from videos seen of the console version. The shots of this 'console' version turn out to have greater than TWICE the view distance of the PC version on max.

If this is the c...

Can't find fault with your post gravemaker. I chose all four of the full retail titles on PC for simple control reasons. Besides this the visuals are considerably better and several support mods. As for Bejeweled, i would rather play it on a phone/tablet than sat in front of a tv or monitor. Its that kind of perfect mobile game.

Besides this too, the likes of Valve/Bethesda/Infinity Ward/Crytek are originally PC developers anyway! Portal 2 is as much a PC game as i have e...

Extremely disappointed with the gameplay. Visually the game looks excellent, but the controls have been dumbed down so much....

Gone are the days where you actually CONTROL your aircraft and have to have skill regards that, god forbid!

Extremely simplified pitch/roll, basic and very limited helicopter controls. Helicopters are a welcome addition but it isn't a patch on ahem...Apache: AA for depth and joy of becoming a skilful pilot.

Well.....its just bloom with God rays. Not even HDR. Bloom has been around in games for ages and is low cost compared to genuine HDR.

I'll be honest, i have seen better lighting engines on much older titles, although said games have probably weaker assets elsewhere than this.

Note this doesn't mean I think Gears 3 is poor, its a fantastic looking game overall and what it does with its lighting effects are great- They have never done HDR to spend this ...

Similar level tech has been around for years now. Its called Unity. You still require the hardware of course but you can effectively get quality 3D accelerated visuals inside full browser windows. Tiger woods online for example.

Unity even supports the likes of Nvidia 3D vision....

The most powerful PC hardware is now 10 times faster than console. If you can't believe it then go look at some 1080p BF3 shots and imagine that 30 frames 720p Gears 3 is close to it....

I think that Onlive is mostly dreaming that they can deliver the quality needed, they still don't have the bitrates and video encoding needed to make games come across nicely in 1080p. Too much compression.

The quality in 720p is still below that of a PC rendering it...

I had many dabblings with SLI, and often its up to you to find fixes for games. Nhancer is a useful tool. Generally i found SLI to be pretty stable and work well with many games, but it is highly frustrating when it doesn't work with that brand new resource hogging title that just came out and the driver update won't fix that for 2 months etc etc :(

Which is why I still prefer single card. That and the microstutter which did/still does drive me nuts.

An overclocked 570 is about as fast as a stock 580. All the 570s i have seen are excellent overclockers on their stock coolers- try MSI afterburner. They can take a fair bit more vcore and a great deal of them will go up to and some beyond 870/1740 core/shaders. Just those speeds is a fairly impressive 20 percent gain.

Just watch the temps...

Expect the new generation of cards within 5 months, ones that will blow GTX580 away no trouble. AMD may even launch th...

Crosstalk isn't the fault of PC or console, its the fault of the display....you were playing with a lower quality, older generation display.

Crysis itself is ok in 3D, but predates the tech and so isn't the best showcase for it. The fact you can actually play a 4 year old Pc game in 3D merely illustrates why Pc is the boss of 3D right now anyway- it adds extra value to older games having them with some 3D functionality. Find the 3D mode on Uncharted 2 or Gears of war ...

PC has all the best 3D games. I have played several 3D console games, but they all take such a major visual and performance hit its pointless. I think the next gen consoles will provide a far superior experience.

I use Nvidia 3D vision and it supports lots of games that look very good in 3D, and the actual 3D vision ready titles are fantastic. It is the only platform that can deliver all the eye candy, full HD, vsynced, anti aliased etc. 3D vision also can manage 1080p/60 fra...

Good game, good scores. But arguably as has been pointed out with time, the impact of the game isn't what the earlier games were in the series.

You have to expect the bar to be pushed upwards as you go along, it never stays the same. Even if Gears 3 is the best game of the series, that doesn't mean the standards by which it is judged are the same as what they were 3 years ago for Gears 2. Several games have pushed up that bar since then.

You have to ...

I can see why you might think this, and you are probably right, however- this actually retains the feel of earlier Deus ex games for me.

This is the kind of feeling the first game had on PC which may have been caused by technological limitation instead of intentional design.

It still helps this modern version eerily feel like a Deus ex game though to older gamers!

The PC version needs a texture overhaul, not a shader one. Most of the textures look to be ported straight over from console, so there isn't a lot of detail when you get closer to them. Typical 512 x 512 console size when a decent PC can do a lot of 1024 x 1024 without too much trouble.

The optimisation is good (better now with the patch) but there is plenty of room to add visual improvements without badly hurting the framerate on modern machines, Quads/GTX460s etc

If the battery life is too poor for you, then you may have to wait until a newer generation of the machine arrives with a lower power chipset.

However battery life and performance is always the trade off. You could have had better battery life i am sure, but it would almost certainly mean less visual performance.

Personally thats pretty much what i expected for battery life, it was unrealistic to think this was gonna be a 10+ hour machine from launch. Maybe a...

Sounds like an odd psychological block to me if you can't play a Pc game with less than max settings but settle fine for a still inferior console version. Pc games usually look better even with less than max settings, console equivalent are often medium or less.... :-/

I couldn't max Crysis properly- very high, high rez, AA until over 2 years after it came out. Very few people could, because it required multiple expensive GPUs.

Still didn't mean i...

The low resolution shots help to hide the obvious differences you would see playing it on a decent sized, HD screen. Its a terrible comparison, because it is heavily biased towards the console version this way.

As per usual they are putting the PC version up against console, on the console's terms, at low end 720p which hides major asset differences.

For example most Crysis PC textures are 1024 x 1024, and several are 2048 x 2048!!

This i...
