Well i am generally suspicious and sceptical of these 'slides' that come out the red and green camps they are more often than not skewed in some subtle way in their favour. The only fair battleground for comparison is when the product is in lots of neutral reviewers hands and the consumer can see prices for themselves.
AMD might very well claim these figures and they might be accurate. ONLY IF you test with duff Nvidia drivers or they cherry picked the games and set...
Nvidia skipped the naming of a generation before, this doesn't mean that it isn;t a direct successor however. For example GTX3 high end parts never came, the ones that did were just rebrands or low end stuff. Nvidia just went straight to GTX4 but it was effectively the next generation from GTX2.
The slide with 512 cores is labelled GTX760....not 780. So it is specs for a purported midrange card.
I am not really sure if these slides are real, my gut sa...
Ray tracing is overrated. It is possible we may end up with more elements ray traced (like reflections in Cryengine3) but we are miles away from fully ray traced games with the complexity we currently have let alone will have in the next few years with traditional techniques.
Rasterisation is more efficient. You have to say conventional rasterisation and pixel shading will reach photorealism long before full ray tracing is possible in real time.
'Up to' according to their benchies. Average there is looking like 40 percent, again according to their benchies where we have no idea of settings or resolutions or drivers or the system tested on and whether it is fair.
I'll wait for confirmation on finished drivers from various independent sites. Both Nvidia and AMD love a bit of number fudging so i'll take these with a fistful of salt. My money is on more like 25-35 percent faster than GTX580 averaged, bu...
Microsoft owns windows, but when 90 percent of the world use it and you don't need to license with Microsoft to release a game or software on it then its an open platform. How can PC not count against 360 as multiplatform when anyone can make games for it?
Alan Wake will now be on PC, Gears 1 was, Splinter Cell has always been on PC. Crackdown 1 is good, 2 is poor and not worth it. The Perfect Dark remake is decent but honestly there are now much better shooters around- especially if you have never played PD its just a fan service.
Whats more is all this talk about Windows 8 being able to emulate 360 hardware.
In short its not the greatest list i ever saw and if you have a gaming PC you will get a go on the...
I have a good gaming PC, but i prefer not for me to arbitrarily write its specs down in a topic such as this everytime. There is a time and a place for hardware discussions do we have to constantly have people knocking up lists of their machines?
Also while i am in the mood for moaning who else wishes people would stop using these utterly crap concept pictures of the next generation Xbox. It won't look a thing like that and TBH, i think that looks cack anyway like somethi...
With these specs if true which seem probable it would be faster than a GTX580 but maybe not massively faster. Possibly along the lines of 20 percent, much like 5870 when it arrived against GTX285.
Nvidia will have no response for sometime if these arrive as predicted by the end of January. It could be as long as 5 months before kepler tips up. This will be an excellent time for AMD much as it was with the Radeon 5 series when 5870 was king. They should make the most of it, ...
It wouldn't easily outperform consoles, not the base unit for 300 with the APU. Its not really faster or worth it if you intend to use it for games. Far better off with a pre built you can spec yourself than this. The base model will not even meet minimum spec for a few modern games such as BF3 because they require an 8800GT which is quicker than the APU in the bottom model. Rule it out if you want to play modern games
Excellent comment T900. Although PC hardware especially graphics hardware has seriously outperformed the consoles since the end of 2006, less and less games have taken advantage of this. Sure we get higher res, higher framerate but this is not the only advantages PC used to have.
Indeed, within 3 years of PS2 arriving we already had several PC games that literally obliterated everything that ever appeared on that generation of consoles. This time around we had but a scant few...
But why?? Its just another pre built PC. I have no idea what is supposedly so special about it? Go to any website and spec a pre built computer as you wish. It isn't as if this system is especially cheap either, the specs are nothing to write home about. The homepage is a great deal of PR nonsense designed to fool you into thinking this is some sort of gaming powerhouse, when it simply isn't.
If you want to get into PC gaming on the cheap, a quickie search for these b...
Native resolution on 360 was a mere 960 x 540 making it one of, if not the lowest resolution console game across PS3 and 360. To give you some idea this means it has less resolution than a native iphone 4 game. (iphone 4's native screen res is 960 x 640)
http://www.eurogamer.net/ar... 7th paragraph
'Alan Wake's native resolution is indeed 960x540'

Iran has a massive inferiority complex. Its not a problem for me anyway that Iran is making a game about a Tel Aviv attack, it is just dumb if it is funded indirectly by the Iranian government with public money and created as a direct response to a game made by a Swedish developer unrelated to the U.S government! Have they not got better things to spend money on?
BF3 was not created as a propaganda tool against Iran by 'America' as RedDragan implies, but the Iranians ...
7mb/s is roughly the uk average, averaged across peak and off peak times. This is slightly behind the U.S.A (although i know it can vary massively state to state), and so well well short of the top countries.
Investment is being made into an improved network but this is not going to happen where i live soon. I live in a smaller town of about 20 thousand people, it isn't exactly the middle of nowhere but the town is not nearly large enough for any company to show interes...
Input lag (this can never be totally overcome). Low resolutions. Poor image quality due to high compression. Poor image quality due to low end hardware on Onlive's side, i personally tried top games like Batman Arkham City and it is running at very low settings and crappy framerates, in fact below even console levels. this is the rule not the exception for recent titles. Just that and the lag are major kickers as if i need any more reasons to dislike this service.
No mo...
I have 7mb/s and good ping, but onlive is rubbish. This is enough for good online gaming and some streaming. This is also conveniently exactly the Uk average broadband speed.
I would bet Onlive needs at least 25meg+ to really truly work properly and give top image quality. My area will not get fibre optic and any speed increase until at least late 2013. Screw that.
Ditto. Man the visual quality is TERRIBLE for me, and i have the uk average connection of 7mb/s. Its easily poorer than console and a world away from my PC.
Besides the other faults this is a major one
I have always had a variety of hardware in the past decade, from Radeon 9800s and X800s, Geforce 6 and 7, X1900s and such but recently have been falling on the side of nvidia, even when their price/performance ratio is not totally favourable compared to AMD.
Problems like this in major games has often seemed to drop for AMD. RAGE was yet another recent game where Nvidia got it right (as right as they could with the game broken anyway) and AMD screwed up, although they did c...
PC has been a great experience for me with this game. All this furore i can't help wondering what all the bluster is about. Everyone keeps telling me how PC is such a pain and difficult to work and has all these problems and here i am with pretty much zero issues on this. :-/
If the machines are designed as a leap over the current then 1080p will be standard. If they are a smaller step or like Wii U they will probably stick to 720p.
To get a base graphics leap alongside doubling the resolution you'll need modern hardware. Otherwise you'll just end up with games that look like they do now just in 1080p.
I'm not saying thats a bad thing, its still pretty good, but that way means more people might not be bothered abou...
