Theres always another perspective nugundam0079. People just have to see the other side of the fence. Hating Pc for struggling to play older titles is an interesting and valid point in some ways, but also invalid that the expectations a brand new Pc should play all PC games from the past thirty years without incompability issues.

After all, you are lucky if your current console plays games you want from the previous generation or the generation before that.....solution? To h...

This appears to be the main problem for console only gamers. Unwilling or simply unable to exercise the effort and their brain to game on PC. Its no secret Pc gaming is hardcore, more hardcore than console gaming, lets hope it stays that way for me. Plopping in a game and playing is certainly appealing for most, but its not enough for the people out there that like to understand and tinker, who enjoy building and fiddling, who enjoy the rewards that come with such an effort.

Alan wake is the only 360 exclusive i bought this year, was moderately disappointed with it. Splinter cell, Mass effect 2, Fable 3 later are on my PC. On the upside i bought RDR for 360, but then found out all my friends had bought it on PS3 so regretted that a tad too.

In the end the latter half of this year for 360 will likely just be halo reach right until gears of war 3 in april.

Halo and Gears.

Now i like 360 dont get me wrong, but...

Why are you all arguing about these parts? This is about the 'next' gen. Unfortunately though because TSMC screwed up with 32nm and cancelled it dont expect this 'new' gen to be much faster than the last. Dont expect to see TRULY new generation parts until Q1 2011 when if all goes well, the 28nm node hits.

The best i see from these parts in october is a slightly massaged 5870 that will probably just squeeze out the current GTX480. Unless ati want to build a ...

Pc was obviously the lead platform. Which now seems like a mistake. Its a damn sight easier building a Ps3 game and then dumping it onto a a platform with excess performance and wads of memory (PC) than the other way around

Looks texture and geometry heavy. Not a huge amount of complex pixel shading going on here. I suspect this method heavily favours 360's architecture and hefty GPU vertex performance advantage, but if anyone can match the console versions up and work CELL's SPEs its carmack's teams. I see the 360 version running with what appears to be a huge amount of geometry which is basically the massive strength of 360's GPU over PS3's RSX and think....Oh. Dear. So there needs to be so...

I would like to think its also a lot to do with gamers staying away from the EA online pass system which i certainly object to, not forgetting the absurd state of DLC on a game like this. Selling completed course that fit on the disc and should be on the disc for an incredible price, and they cant even be integrated into the main career mode.

Go home EA

Great stuff letros. That configuration that tomshardware knocked up would obliterate resident evil 5. My laptop runs resident evil 5 better than the consoles. 1280 x 720 and 30 frames is so easy to reach these days, resident evil 5 can be run better on a 65 dollar card than it can on a console.

It seems normal to me. Mafia 2 tother day recommended a quad core and a 9800GTX. 8800GTX is no faster than the 9800GTX, 3870 certainly isnt. 3870 is there but its hardly much faster than a 65 dollar 4670. 2.4ghz dual probably refers to an athlon X2 or a core 2. In other words the top spec they put there is very modest in my eyes.

Equivalent settings on PC to console games and resolutions do not require anything like powerful hardware. A mere Radeon 4670 starts to provide console besting visuals with more resolution and filtering. Its a 65 dollar card.

Modern warfare 2 will usually average well over 40 frames a second on such a card @ 1280 x 1024, maximum details and 4 x AA. Console version averages about the same @ 2 x AA with reduced details, and just under half that resolution (1024 x 600).

Assuming its tegra than sony will probably have a custom part, there are different variations, speeds and models to the specific chip, tegra is merely a series name like geforce 8. Lotsa different models there.

As said unlocking the disabled SPE in PS3 is impossible because there are without doubt several chips with a faulty SPE which has been disabled and would not function correctly at the required clocks

60 frames is gorgeous and arcade like buttery smooth for the best control response and eye pleasing. Killzone 2 does chug along sometimes, low twenties and it is noticeable. A lot of console games do. Having the luxury of 60 frames on Pc is wonderful, it can make games feel so much slicker than the console versions. Mass effect 2 for example. Can be a little sluggish on 360 sometimes, but locked out to 60 frames on Pc its as slick as fook

It depends what you view as difficulties? Sony restricted the clockspeed of psp's CPU initially, by a large margin, possibly to improve yields but in hindsight it was likely to try and improve battery longevity for the early models. When newer models with improved and shrunken chipsets had been released, sony unlocked the CPU to full speed for developers.

Of course, if you had an original model it mostly crushed the battery further. But on newer models it was no problem...

If nvidia sort out another generation of their Ion chipset for netbooks, then i think we will see netbooks with console equalling abilities for games. A 32 shader Ion with DDR3 memory or better should be enough (currently 16 streams)

However handheld graphics like this guy suggests in ipads and slimline mobile devices? It'll be another three or four years at least for that. The main reason is simply power consumption, Where a netbook can use 45 watts under load with a (...

Wow. You are in for a treat if you have a good CPU too, talk about a huge leap! This card is at least 5 times faster! Biggest leap i ever had was from a voltmodded 7900GS (i loved the 7900GS, you could OC the nuts off them and get quite near the expensive 7900GTX) to a 8800GT and i felt that was huge

The full fat 1Gb definitely gives a 5850 a run for its money, especially the factory overclocked versions which just as often beat 5850 as loses. You could probably expect Ati to respond with price cuts. These cards have a power and a significant heat advantage. In other reviews they overclock incredibly well too, 30 percent on the core and shader clocks, unheard of overclocking performance for a card in this class. Factory overclocked cards also render the 465 and the 470 pretty much obsolet...

Looks like Nvidia finally have a great part and there is some value back in graphics. Seen the 768mb version for as little as 150 pounds, and its at least as fast as the more expensive radeon 5830. It also puts the previous GTX285 to bed finally, mostly beating it or matching it even with immature drivers. Makes the 5770 look a little expensive in some games, so this should force down the cost of radeon parts 5830 and below.

Well done Nvidia, been a long time but this is a ...
