RSX isnt as fast as a 7900GT overall. Mainly because RSX has half the memory bus bandwidth, and thus half the ROPs. Nvidia originally said it was faster than a 7800GTX because of its core clockspeed, but then when pressed admitted years ago that the cut up bus essentially makes RSX slower than a 7800GTX. Its probably somewhere in the region of a 7800GT for real world applications with its ability to do anti aliasing heavily crippled by the cut down in ROPs that comes with the bus bandwidth re...

Should certainly give epic games a few headaches as this engine is going to turn some developer heads away from UE3, for sure

Huge rip off of Gears. From the playable character and enemy model styles to the environments, the glib battle dialogue, the animation set. Possibly the most blatant copy i have ever seen, utterly shameless. Imagine Gears of war as a proof of concept in about 2004 on Unreal engine 2 before development began in earnest with the new engine and hardware. This is that.....

Doesnt do it any good that a 50 quid graphics card with a dual core beats the crap out of Onlive for image quality at these resolutions. Pretty much every desktop machine from the past five years or so has a dual core now.

GT5 will be so realistic when you park up the 458 will ignite :-)

Its just a simple asset streaming bug, and shows how far GT5 is trying to push the hardware. A few simple tweaks will eliminate such issues in the finished product. If it were a fundamental physics bug or something i might be worried but as it is, its nothing

N00b. Definitely. Who plays games on PC and doesnt already have a steam account? Why didnt he have the client already installed? Why wouldnt he use the account he must have made from those other games he has claimed to have played on steam?

No point buying a card for this game just yet. AMD radeon 6800 will be here soon. The 6870 from what i have seen and heard of it will blow a GTX480 into the weeds easily and not cost nearly as much. A very bad time to purchase a new card, a month or so until those release. Its not been a good year to buy high end graphics because the GTX4 series underdelivered and overpriced coupled with crysis 2 being delayed. This is why the 5870 is still worth roughly what it cost when it was launched a ye...

If this actually comes out then i might need to take someone along to see it on the shop shelves because i will most certainly need a slap from them, cos it just couldnt be for real.

Assuming you ignore a bunch of Pc games, then probably. Gears 3 looks pretty amazing though, and Uncharted 2 the current console champ could easily get a sequel by the end of next year

Seriously are they going to seek out every slightly rough looking texture or effect? We arent at photorealism just yet....you could do that with pretty much any game you care to mention.

The game isnt the greatest looking on Pc but generally it looks rather pretty overall, the lighting and soft shadowing in particular is lovely whether its day or night, snow shine or sunset. The car models are gorgeous and the main textures are pretty nice looking, some of the surfaces are ...

Havent bought a new card in years. Due one very soon. These could be the ones. Nearly 12K on xtreme vantage- that is as high as an OC 5970 scores. It will still be built on the 40nm node however so im suspicous if this is the single GPU 6870 score or not. If it turns out to be, that makes it massively fast, the crysis bench i seen is pretty impressive.

Very high 1920 x 1200 4x AA = 44 frames. I only run 1920 x 1080 and would settle for 2 x AA, so i reckon i would be able t...

The problem is this:

The game looks so frickin insane on a good PC and thats the footage they are showing to journos at shows. So thats what their expectation is and they go and play the console version, even if it looks pretty decent for the console they cant shake the Pc versions's ass kicking eye candy out of their minds, such is the gap between them.

If they played another console shooter first and then go to crysis 2 on a console, it might not ge...

Wow. This article is crap and oversimplified. Three examples being that although 360 has a slower main memory bandwidth, it has a smaller OS footprint than PS3 and EDRAM with enormous framebuffer bandwidth- traditionally a huge bottleneck that was dealt with intelligently by Ati. Secondly, when talking about resolutions a key aspect for all these 720P games is that 360 upscales anything you throw at it to 1080p and PS3 doesnt, the individual game has to support upscaling. This can make quite ...

The guy who said RAGE is 60 frames- well done. Comparing them is fine but RAGE is aiming to render two frames for KZ3's one. Which puts a bit of perspective in there, RAGE is an impressive technical accomplishment not forgetting its also multiplatform...

Overall undoubtably KZ3 though

It could be better. It helps quite a lot if you buy a higher quality headset rather than the piece of tat microsoft provide though.

Any dual core + 4650 = better settings, resolutions and framerate than the 360 version. 360 runs L4D 1280 x 720, 0 x AA, Weak AF, 25-30 frames a second.

http://www.techpowerup.com/...

This silent card with DDR2 memory (LOL) manages maximum settings, 1280 x 1024, 2 x AA, 8 x AF and pulls well over 40 frames. Its actually playable 1680 x 1050(which is twice 360's re...

Shows you how close we are now to true photo realism in games. Literally right on the cusp of it, with only a couple more generations of GPU performance needed to give us realtime rendering. Once the video cards break the 10 teraflops barrier (5970 is about 4.5 teraflops, peak) then i think its only down to the software to utilise it. I.e a game that pushes the limits on such a card.

10 teraflops performance is two generations away, at most. Late 2012 possibly...
