My point being with unigine nvidia tried to show that GTX480 was nearly twice as fast as a 5870 on the synthetic benchmark. Whereas in DX11 games with tesselation enabled, the advantage is minor, arguably not even related to tesselation performance in some games. GTX480 is a massive GPU, much much larger than 5870, but its size does not correlate to the same increase in performance advantage. Synth benches are not to be trusted, especially wielded by the designers of the hardware themselves.....

Nvidia have been the market leader for years, and offer different features, such as physx. Ati have just recently though have had better offerings when it comes to price/performance, and the cards themselves have had heat and power consumption advantages.

This is a bit of cheek really, because nvidia themselves are not above misleading benchmarks. For example, unigine tesselation benchmark used by nvidia to make Ati cards look very slow, when in actual real world the differ...

FIFA has been near identical on the consoles for years now. Makes little difference which you choose, and also Pc is on the scene now too, which means if you wanted the best looking version you would get that.

Here is a 1080p shot of the PC build i took myself today: http://i731.photobucket.com...

However which version you choose is more likely to be do...

Seen it first hand on a PC emulator running in HD. I can confirm it does look better. Just in case anyone needed reasurance :-) lol

Pants comparison because the FIFA 11 demo has been available for a while now on PC. Obviously it uses the up to date console engine now so its basically identical to them, the only enhancements being you can have more resolution and more AA of course.

Just image quality, 360 has AA, PS3 does not. Fifa is the one you really want though...

What a ridiculous article. Also using a single poor shot of GTA4? LOL @ that. Has the writer even played the two games? The gap is HUGE when GTA4 is maxed (or even modestly higher settings) on a good PC. It looks so much better its incredible. The fuzzy draw distance and low resolution objects are eliminated on PC.

Also LOL @ console gamers that think Pc is just full of cheats and no one on console ever pirates and cheats online. Course....

Interesting list but Crysis 2 on PC is going to be difficult to defeat even for the other games on PC there. Just purely going by the fact that even to this day three years on, crysis is the best looking thing out there still for me.

If crysis 2 pushes that boundary again, It'll run crap most likely, but it'll look the best easily

Personal helicopters exist. Technically not jetpacks, you can fly with one at massive heights (if you insane enough) for up to half an hour. Here is one slated to cost $100k, which actually isnt that crazy if it was reliable. Imagine nipping to work and back on one, should manage a medium commute on one tank! This dude hovers one for ages.

North america is important for the industry regards hardware + software sales, but two out of three current home machines are japanese, and the two main handhelds are japanese.

When it comes to software development though, western regions in general have been taking a lead that japanese developers have admitted is worrying them. The collaboration of western devs and western technology has opened a distinct gap. The industry is a knife edge balance of the right hardware with...

Would have thought halo to be at least a little higher on the list. Only because its one of the few games i have ever seen that singlehandedly sustained a console. By that i mean Xbox lived on halo for over a year before other exclusive games finally appeared that were worthy of the hardware. Remember, not even the first splinter cell shipped on xbox until over a year after halo. No one even mentioned other Xbox only games for a while except to say, have you played halo? You should....

Its not old, its the truth. Vanquish is the example of a game produced by a team that reacted to the criticism of Bayonetta, The scrutiny was more intense than usual on the differences between platforms, even though Bayonetta's port was handed off to another developer. So using Vanquish as an example about engine optimisation isnt a particularly good argument, because platinum didnt technically deal with the PS3 version of the engine. Only now with Vanquish are they hands on with PS3. Dev...

Because 360 is a more flexible system. The old peak theoretical versus real world performance again. PS3 has a higher peak performance but then reaching those peaks are a lot harder than reaching 360s.

If you have the resources, experience and time then you can reach a peak on PS3 that 360 is unlikely to match. Most developers cant manage that though. The PS3 version has the edge here just because it suffers no tearing which is always a huge plus for me, so platinum games h...

Under 20 quid for the Pc version. A steal. Going by how GRID and DIRT 2 run on PC, this will be undemanding and anyone with a half decent Pc should go for it

Agrees MIB. The final version is also better looking than the demo, quite considerably so on PC anyway. It also doesnt really need a high end PC as long as you dont feel like desperately wasting money for nvidia's hopelessly unoptimised physx implementation on it.

Core 2 duo + 8800GT is enough to max it minus physx 1280 x 1024. Aged hardware.

I think bungie could struggle with PS3. Core engine technology has never been their strong suit, 360 is by far the easiest machine to develop for and look see still how halo 3 wasnt exactly a technical tour de force.....

After working with 360 for five years they seem to have a better handle on it, and i dont think you could expect them to get more from PS3 considering their history. Its rather unrealistic if you think they will jump onto PS3 and manage to make it easily ou...
