Couldnt agree more. I had enough of buying from chain stores like GAME because for one thing the new games are nearly always 29.99 or 39.99 (Pc and console) and i live in a smallish town with only a handful of supermarkets providing competition price wise, i cant be bothered trawling around them all to find the cheapest when i can see online in about two minutes which is cheapest and usually no more than 24.99/34.99. Im not a cheapskate but when i know i can save at least a fiver minimum on n...

Looks like 2K might have just pulled the old Activision Call of Duty dev switch. The main developer lays down the benchmark and the secondary throws out another game along the same lines. This could really be a fantastic game and if it sells well 2K marin will probably knock out the sequel to this one in the same setting like they did with bioshock 2.

I liked bioshock 2 but to be frank it missed that sense of wonder for obvious reasons the first provided with this unexplore...

While i agree Carmack is a genius programmer and a whiz with software im pretty sure here he is really just trying to hype his new games on iphone a little bit rather than being very serious about comparing iphone visual quality to xbox visual quality. Lets not forget what xbox could do.

Chaos theory http://xbox...

Depends what graphics it has- its really not that demanding as long as you dont turn on APEX/physx. If you maximise everything else, it'll run fine on a decent core 2 duo and a 9600GT/GT240 (these are £55/$70 cards) @ 1280 x 1024 40FPS+. Not at all a hardcore gaming machine. More power only gets you more resolution and 60 frames, possibly the ability to turn on physx with better nvidia cards. After seeing both the console versions @ 1280 x 720 screen tearing and suffering rather noti...

Original xbox had faulty dangerous power cords that did indeed start fires. Microsoft replaced millions upon millions of them. Cost them a fortune. http://www.engadget.com/200...

Dont buy many sports titles, and the ones that i do often alternate. I might buy one a year at most from FIFA, PES, Tiger woods and Football manager. That way there is at least a couple years before i buy a new version whereupon they might actually have added something new and fresh from the last time i played it.

I bought Tiger woods 11 this year after six years since purchasing a TW golf game and was reasonably happy with the updates made in all that time, although even a...

It might help if microsoft have even confirmed and agreed to a sequel, they still arent sure about it because of less than stellar sales is the word on the street.

Move is already getting cheaper in the uk with the price wars kicking off between major online retailers.

The starter pack can be had for 42.79/42.85 from choicesuk/shopto, a separate move for 27.85 from shopto and the sub controllers for just 17.99 from play.com.

If you have nothing, then you can get move for two players now for under 107 pounds!

MAX PAYNE and DEUS EX! Of course. The first MP runs just great on elderly netbooks with GMA950, the second is a tad slow but playable. Newer netbooks though all have at least GMA3100 which manage very well. If you have an Nvidia Ion netbook then you have enough performance to play even more recent stuff.

Give it 18 months tops and i would bet larger netbooks will reach present console performance for gaming, meaning they will manage console ports just fine. Nvidia are likel...

Core i7 has four PHYSICAL cores with two threads of execution, 'virtual' cores. That still makes it 4 x 3ghz. As i have mentioned though, this is an outdated method of talking about CPU performance. The article doesnt seem to be aware of that, hence the speculation that might refer to something with say....ten cores, each running 3.2ghz = 32ghz.

Clockspeed hasnt been a good method of evaluating performance for sometime now as a standalone consideration, its only eve...

@ OpenGL, I know. Merely demonstrating the packaging and process that is available NOW for CPU and GPU dies, indeed the GTX480 is nearly all logic transistors. CELL partly combats its cache disadvantage by having an incredibly fast memory bus bandwidth. Server processors on the cutting edge are even larger than consumer processors because they have huge amounts of cache, but i discounted then knowing that. Im unconvinced sony will still use a CELL design for their next console, due to the pro...

The GPU is the key component here for visuals and the fastest single consumer GPU in the world is already about ten times as fast as PS3's- GTX480. Transistor count isnt exactly a perfectly accurate method of measuring performance, but it gives a good idea how technology has moved on especially regards GPU. RSX has 300 million transistors, GTX480 has 3 BILLION on one die. Be at least another two generations of GPU development before 2013 starts. So think about that. On the CPU side, CELL ...

@ gaffyh - i believe the article is using a rather outdated method of multiplying cores by clockspeed to come up with the 32ghz figure. The modern way is to simply state the number of cores and the clockspeed of each.

Anyone remember a quite obscure namco game called libero grande? Arcade first, ported to PS1. This was the game where you controlled a single player in the game and requested passes, tackles etc......when i started fifa up a few years ago and found a near carbon copy game mode i was amazed because libero grande was lambasted at the time by the press because you didnt have full control. Now they loved it....

Now imagine Doom 4 on the engine, built for 30 frames a second.....Crysis 2 better watch its back on PC, because this engine should be able to pull off some stunning stuff.
