"The Wii U could be the end of Nintendo has a home console maker, much like the Dreamcast was the end of Sega’s run."
Sega lost a bunch of money on previous hardware endeavors. Nintendo has not and as long as they can keep making profits on consoles, I don't see them dropping out of that race, no matter how much 'intermanet germalists' seem to desire it.
I don't see why this author has written this article about the console with such...
Oh I remember that. I just didn't think it counted since it wasn't really a new product, so much as a redesign. That and I heard it actually did alright in Japan.
It's a shame Capcom has no plans for it right now. The hardware is well suited for its own iteration of the franchise.
Contrary to what some believe, I don't always agree with everything Nintendo does. As a fan though, I try to maintain a level of optimism. For example, the Wii didn't have a good online infrastructure. The Wii U's is not really on par with the likes of PSN or Xbox Live, but it's at least better than before and hopefully will be improved upon.
Nintendo's been in tight spots before, with their only real financial failure (as far as I know) being the Virtual ...
I'd argue that they are still interactive experiences and require a player to make the characters succeed and progress the story, like any conventional video game. It's just that in Heavy Rain, the player is offered less control in favor of a cinematic narrative. If you can appreciate the story (and I acknowledge that not everyone did) then the experience can still be rewarding in its own way.
"Price drops do nothing to increase Wii U sales."
"Insists price drop is necessary to make Wii U successful."
You're delusional.
Yeah these commercials were pretty damn trippy. Oh well. They could have been more like the PSP squirrels commercial. And besides, we eventually wound up getting Kevin Butler ads and those were hilarious.
Yeah, I agree. E3 was not particularly great last year. I remember Ubisoft having the best show and they really made me raise an eyebrow. Not that it's difficult to beat EA at an E3 show but... Ubisoft having a better show than all of the big three?
I think this alternative, if handled well, can prove to be much more beneficial to Nintendo and its fans.
Yeah, I don't believe that Zelda U will look like the tech demo, so I put it onto the list. I also omitted X on account of we've already seen some preliminary footage of the game, though like with the first Xenoblade, I think it will look even better when we see a trailer closer to release.
Yeah, sorry about that. Went to check if the link was broken and it seems the video I linked has indeed been taken off of public viewing.
It might indeed. The industry is headed into uncharted waters and who knows what will happen. I'm not sure about RF's assessment that we are already in a crash, but I guess we will see.
Actually now that I think of it, this I can agree with. Seeing performance upgrades/options like that would actually be very cool. Bubble up.
My point was more along your latter explanation, yes. It was because she's in a mature game so I figured older gamers would want to play as her. Maybe fourteen year old boys too. I suppose young adults would have been a better word?
"Either way though, I'm really looking forward to Smash 4!"
I concur.
It's the same with me and RF. I don't agree with many of the things he says, but he brings good points to the table and more importantly says things that make me think about the topics he speaks out about.
I really appreciated Heavy Rain's narrative as well, even if the acting was a little hammy at times. I don't doubt that Beyond will more than likely surpass all of that.
Seeing Snake duke it out with Bomberman and Optimus Prime was weird too. I think Snake's used to it.
Exactly. Different mechanics, markets and therefor different audiences usually. I think that has a lot to do with why Sony has been so successful with consoles as Nintendo has been so successful with handhelds.
No kidding. It's high time Nintendo got that feature applied. Not that I'm unsatisfied with the results of the spring update, but the summer update couldn't come soon enough.
I think a better comparison like that would be "Do all sports games need to be Madden games?"
That would entice older gamers, though I wonder if they can make her fit in the universe... seeing Bayonetta duke it out with Kirby, Pikachu or Mr. Game and Watch would be weird as hell.
There's also the red leader of the Wonderful 101 team. Just throwin' that out there.
Honestly, I'm surprised no one has made a "city" game in the same vain as Lego City, but with a more mature tone. Say you're playing as a cop in GTAV. The gamepad could be used as your radio and minimap. So if a suspect is heading down a particular road (information you'd get through the gamepad speaker), you could then contact more officers and have them set up a road block and touch the spot you want on the map.
Not sure if they could do something like...
Sheesh. How the heck is anyone supposed to get that many coins in a single year?
