Well said indeed. Wii U's third party issues have just as much to do with a lack of interest/effort on the developers as it does with Nintendo's hardware, if not more so.
@DragonKnight
Because it's with the Wii U in particular that people insist that it is not a generation eight console based solely on its specifications. Not even the Wii received that sort of treatment and its specs were comparable to an original Xbox, perhaps even lower.
Kind of disappointed about that as well. Miiverse integration and off-TV play is great, but the option of Wiimote support would have been greatly appreciated.
Yeah, the casual push was not as strong with this console. Matter of fact, the general push really wasn't that strong. Should they start marketing this thing more effectively this summer as rumored, I can't help but wonder how it will play out.
@SilentNegotiator
"I'm sure more people consider it 7th gen than you're assuming."
Just because it may or may not be the general consensus doesn't mean it's necessarily accurate or true. But then this is coming from the same snag who believes the majority's opinion validates denying rights to gay people.
"You only make these pro-Nintendo articles tri-weekly or so."
So you're going &...
Except for Brawl+ and Project M.
Here's my list. The last three are my preferences for third party characters.
Dillon
Little Mac
Shulk
Kumatora (Earthbound)
Palutena
King K. Rool
Weavel (Metroid Prime Hunters)
Pac-Man
Shantae or Patricia Wagon
Wreck-It Ralph
That seems doubtful. I'd expect more exclusive content at least. The two systems seem to be going about it in slightly different ways and the type of content we see on them may reflect that.
So you've added "straw grasping" to "removing context," have you?
Give me a break. It would be the same with any type of hardware. The Ouya is more or less going to be considered a generation eight console due to its timing despite having specs comparable to a 360. But naturally you turn this into pro-Nintendo bias since you are virtually incapable to come up with an argument that doesn't involve attacking the person to whom you're replying. Bu...
Call it a pet peeve. I think it's petty to remove something from its intended category for something as trivial as specs. Besides, if there is a correct way to address something, I would prefer to use that particular way. It's not like slang where it can simply be a different word that means the same thing; it's a word being used in a context that is incorrect.
I'm pretty indifferent on the matter since I have no real opinion on how it will go either way. On the one hand, it would be tough for Nintendo to get a lot of attention while competing with two brand new consoles. On the other, it's the biggest game event of the year.
Oh well. At least they don't run the risk of another embarrassing presentation. I of course am talking about the "interference issues" with Skyward Sword during E3 2010.
The devs never admitted anything like that. One member of the creative team said "I think everything we do sucks." He was saying that he was harsh on his own work, not that he thought that the Prime trilogy in particular was bad. Don't take it out of context.
As for the sequels, Prime 2 was underrated; it had far more exploration while 3 had less exploration and more action. Both were great in their own ways even if they were not quite on par with the first game...
Am I the only one who still thinks it's odd that the Wii U is getting GBA games while half of the 3DS ambassador games were from the GBA?
@avengers1978
Vita sold 2.2 million units as of June last year. Where did you get the statistic saying it has sold over 5 million units?
Hey, I didn't whine that I had to pay $300+ to play Metal Gear Solid 4 on the PS3. Either suck it up or don't pay. It's as simple as that.
@lopez_josue
If zebramocha's comment is any indication, apparently not. You can say the Wii U is underpowered or even state it's in the same league as the previous generation, that's fine. But that has nothing to do with the term "generation." Really annoying that some people still can't begin to understand this concept.
Thank you. Bubbled up for intelligence.
The Wii, the 360 and the PS3 are all in generation seven. The Wii U, the Nextbox and the PS4 are all in generation eight.
"Next generation console" means a console that comes a generation after the previous one. That's it. That is the technical definition. If you want to factor specs into the matter, then at least bother to understand what you're saying when addressing something with the term.
@t0mmyb0y
I've seen what it does. It expands your screen to the entire wall. I'm not sure how that's supposed to work properly without a proper screen around it. It just doesn't look right to me.
I know I don't. The last EA owned game I really gave a care about was Mass Effect 3, and the last one I thoroughly enjoyed was Brutal Legend (and that was only published by EA).
I think I can survive without the likes of Madden, Crysis and Battlefield. That and if I really want to dive into those games (doubtful at full price, mind you) I'd probably get a PS4 first.
