Regardless, if you're at all concerned about the specs, you should see this video. It analyzes the specs of the Wii U and the current HD hardware and proves that the Wii U based on what we know about it already cannot be weaker.
You forgot to mention that this article outright LIED about Activision not supporting the Wii U. Activision already stated that they will support the Wii U.

Both handheld are good with their own share of good qualities and games. It ultimately comes down to taste and value.
I love my 3DS and I'm sticking with it. I do want a Vita but I feel it's too much money for too little.

Your logic is unbelievably flawed. The Wii is the first console in multiple generations to be significantly weaker than its competition. Also the poor third party support is on the third parties, not Nintendo.
Predictions should be educated guesses, not mental leaps of faith. If you don't know anything about what you're predicting then don't make a prediction at all.

The DS came out much earlier than the PSP, didn't it? Sure, the handheld market is different, but Nintendo's built a sizable fanbase. I mean it took two Mario games to really get the 3DS off of the ground.
In the end, power does not matter. With that said, it will be a more powerful console. It's simply a matter of how much more powerful than current HD hardware it will be (whether by just a little or a lot).
