Doesn't really help that all gamers seem to ask for is better graphics.
Do me a favor and repost this whenever someone makes idiotic comments about the Wii U's specs again. And lets be honest; N4G's trolls are rather persistent with their ignorance and stupidity.
"So they've always gambled by trying to attact the casual audience..."
Notice how they've been extremely successful for it.
Personally I'm a tad more amazed with the 3DS. Nearly 20 million served in its first two years? Pretty crazy.
Honestly, the fact that I even got disagrees for this...
People are too stupid for words.
The 360 can run Unreal Engine 4? Can run Nintendo games in HD? Has Assassin's Creed and Batman Arkham City running at 1080p?
Also, I fail to see how it can only be a 360 when it can run gameplay on both the TV and two screens (albeit at a lower framerate on the controller screens) at the same time.
This must be the era when Power7 based processors suddenly became the cheap models.
How is $350 an obscene price? Compared to what, Playstation 3's initial $600 price tag?
Having an HD Nintendo console with up to date tech is well worth $300+ IMO. If the Xbox 360, back when we were hearing red ring of death stories every week, was worth $400 in those days I see no reason why Wii U can't be sold for a little less than that.
EDIT:

HD is a resolution setting. That doesn't say anything abo...
N4g, keeping up the tradition of three things...
-Exaggerating the bad news.
-Ignoring the good news.
-And apparently skewing observations about the hardware.
Oh, and I forgot, anonymous sources are apparently now more reliable than big name developers who actually, you know, make games on the Wii U.
Stay classy N4g.
@NathanExplosion
*Shrugs* The Wii U can apparently play those multiplatform games in 1080p resolution. So that's one upgrade.
Like Dillon's Rolling Western, Sakura Samurai and Pushmo?
"You have to be flexible and Nintendo don't seem to want to adapt to how gaming is changing."
They are. The Wii had next to no online service, had little third party support and no achievements. The Wii U is the exact opposite from that.
Not like anyone here cares for what you stated. Everyone's too self-indulgent to care about the circumstances set for Nintendo. And lack any amount of patience.
"- A system that's built around and over relies upon a gimmick that doesn't really improve game quality."
1. Has this console come out yet? No? Then how can you judge how gimmicky the new features are without at least trying them.
2. How does it "overly" rely on the controller when its screen is completely optional? Have you never heard of the Classic Controller Pro? I assume the answer is no.
The disagrees toward you both say it all.
Piracy is certainly a sad predicament.
On the one hand, I believe that entertainment should be supported financially. On the other I sympathize that not everyone has the money to pay for such games, especially overseas.
That said for those who complain, I'm willing to believe that if you're able to buy a legitimate piece of hardware, whether a new and expensive game console or a gaming rig, I can only assume you're not that bad off with your curre...
I can understand the sentiment. The Wii U gamepad does look a tad fragile. But if kids can be expected to hold 3DSes properly, I see no reason why people can't trust them with this controller.
Give me the link to the article that said it can run on PS3 and 360. I want to see that right now.
A not-true Next Gen system that can run Unreal Engine 4?
Nintendo backed off the core audience for much of the Wii's lifespan. Now that the Wii U is generating more core content than its predecessor, core gamers remain apprehensive (assuming this site is anything to go off of).
How is 512MB of RAM "mostly" for the OS? That's less than half of the supposed 1.5-2GB of RAM in the final build.
