^This. Bubble up for intelligence.

If Killzone was on Xbox and Halo was on Playstation, I guarantee the respective fanbases would be saying different things about them. Specs also mean nothing unless a dev knows how to properly utilize them.

Bethesda's work on PS3 (in contrast to Rockstar's) comes to mind.

Making Call of Duty a little prettier didn't really make it look more appealing to most people, now did it.

Besides, the graphics on Battlefield 4 look pretty good, but I'm still not going to play it. I don't care how it looks. It seems to play exactly like Battlefield 3. Being that Battlefield is not my cup of tea, I won't be playing it, next-gen visuals or not.

Wish more people would give this franchise a look at the very least. You'd think with how much more accessible it's become it would have some more attention.

Tends to happen on this platform it seems. :( The omission of real-time online multiplayer is all too frequent as well (I'm looking at Nintendo and Ubisoft in particular). I'm glad these guys found a decent workaround and being able to play against players across different platforms is certainly a surprising treat.

Personally, I feel Achievements/Trophies/Accompli shments should be optional. I think that's alright. Were these guys lazy with their approach? Perhaps...

I'm guessing they were not anticipating the announcement for Mighty No. 9 and wanted to go through with the choice. I think they can still do alright. When A Hat In Time was gaining a lot of traction for its Kickstarter, Soul Saga managed to not only make its goal, but several stretch goals as well.

I wouldn't call WayForward's timing ideal either, but they have yet to steer me wrong and I have confidence that they can make it work in spite of the competition. As ...

Okay. They just made this game about ten times more appealing to me than when I first heard of it. Cross-play between Wii U/3DS AND tablet/phone users? I'm there.

Be sure to spread the word too. Mighty No. 9 has it easy since many gamers know who Keiji Inafune is, but WayForward and Shantae are not as widely known and need fans to spread the word to get the game funded.

Having read the article, I feel there is hope. A representative of Nintendo talks about how they feel inclined to loosen up and apply exceptions to certain guidelines.

They're thinking about it. I just wish they'd get serious about it. And soon. I would really like to play TBoI on my Wii U.

Actually, I think it's supposed to hearken a bit more toward how WayForward developed Ducktales Remastered HD, with 2D characters and 3D environments with 2.5D gameplay.

Either way, looks AMAZING. And I simply must play it. I think today pretty much marks the proof that I am not a Nintendo fanboy, but a Shantae fanboy. :p

I find this funny. And only because I strongly believe that the game will reach $2.5 million in pledges anyway.

Damn straight dude, haha. I was watching the countdown as it was ending and I flipped my lid when I saw the trailer. I've been showing it to damn near everyone I know who is into video games and I wrote this blog in the middle of all of that. I really hope it gets funded and then some. This new game looks so cool.

No 3DS or Vita versions as far as I know. This is meant to be a home console game from the looks of it.

I KNOWWW AAHHH, I can't wait. :)

Wow, and I just submitted a blog talking about how the game Shantae inspired and influenced me quite a bit. Small world lol.

A post like this deserves way, way more heat than it's already gotten. This is a big deal, if you ask me. It's freaking awesome.

I have two guesses. 1) The designers felt like changing it. The entire art style is different from before to be fair. 2) It could have to do with the ending of Risky's Revenge (which I ain't gonna spoil).

Not entirely true. Soul Saga and A Hat In Time have distinct art styles and are also new IPs. They only take inspiration from certain games but were otherwise brand new ideas. It's pretty impressive that both games gained so much traction.

Interestingly, a FTP reboot of Heavy Gear and the spiritual sequel to Eternal Darkness failed to receive their necessary funding.

Microsoft seems to think the Kinect and extra features are worth the price of admission. I personally don't think many people in the general market will agree. $400 really seems to be the sweet spot for modern game consoles these days. Anything more is pretty damn steep.

It's worked out pretty well for a number of indie developers west side.

Heck yeah, man!

That's a good question. It could mean the game will have a large scope, or perhaps to cover costs to create a studio for the purpose of developing the game? I guess the only one who would truly know the answer is Inafune. Either way, I can't wait to play. :D
