I assume the headline means industry trends? Nintendo simply follows their own rules. For their own business model it actually works in making them profits where, as a business, that's the most important thing.

It won't give them success all of the time of course. Certain need to be followed to stay relevant in new generations.

"Dude, Mark Rein said that last year. He stands corrected."

Where did he say that?

"Hell, he was the one to change his mind. He NOW knows that Wii U cannot handle UE4."

Where did he say that?

"Maybe he thought it could, but once he put it into practice, it failed to work."

Where did he say that?

Bring me some facts. The only one grasping at straws here is the one...

Try telling this to LOL_WUT.

EDIT: Frankly I can't imagine anyone clamoring for a price cut unless they actually intend to buy one. If you think it's simply a good business strategy, the last few weeks have proven otherwise. Without AAA titles and more awareness, the hardware can't sell no matter what price it is at. That's why the Vita, 3DS and PS3 struggled early on as well. A few games and better marketing down the line and all three of those were better of...

"Mark Rein the Chief engineer behind the New Middle ware has come about and said that UE4 was not tailored to the specifications of the WiiU. There for its not supported. No use in trying to make this seem like Epic our Kotaku is trolling."

First of all, I would like a link to where Mark Rein said that, and it better be verbatim.

Secondly, Kotaku has done plenty of trolling in the past year and prior. But hey, when it's bad Nintendo news it isn&...

Ugh. Great, the ignorant and the trolls are going to have a hey-day with this POS article. I really don't see how the hell this got through.

Mark Rein has already confirmed the engine can run on the Wii U, albeit scaled down.

If it made them money, it would have been deemed a success. Failures typically lose money and don't earn it back. Even breaking even can be considered a success depending on how you look at it.

Either way, we need more details to be sure in this particular case.

@Donnieboi

You probably don't know it but each official release, whether it be a full game or DLC, is its own license. Apparently the Darksiders II license in the UK has become somewhat sketchy.

We have to assume it simply did not cover the costs. 3.4 million units sold would go to about $204,000,000 earned from sales and Square simply spent more than that to have the game made, shipped and marketed.

Shame too. I've been itching to try this game out since a lot of my friends really liked it. I'll still play it, don't get me wrong, but it seems like it's one of those games that should have been more successful.

Oh wow. People really wanted this title. I think that's good for both the console and the franchise.

"They wanna be cheap about important things but invest in gimmicks to make a quick buck off people..."

I can see how dropping the Wii U's most unique feature in favor of running Origin on their network infrastructure is a good business strategy. /s

I said "solid" not "amazing." More Wii Us being sold, even if only 10k is hardly a bad thing for the system. What Nintendo should do is entice developers to get more games released on the platform so as to keep the momentum.

Are you serious? The price cut had no real effect alone. It was Monster Hunter that truly influenced this boost.

4848d ago 5 agree7 disagreeView comment

It's strategic, has a lot of content, customization and there's online co-op. That's good enough for me.

4848d ago 7 agree1 disagreeView comment

Huh. That's a pretty solid boost.

Oh well, still doomed, right guys?!

I was going to say. If this is only because it's Big Boss, I can live with Hayter not voicing him. But Solid Snake and young Big Boss is another story...

Tracking's nice. Still got some uncanny valley going though. Let's hope we don't wind up seeing this for the next half decade.

I was going to say, that seems like an excellent way to kick off a new Direct conference.

Okay? Some gamers save up over the years. I didn't get the 360 or PS3 at launch but I still got them at some point (albeit I now only have the PS3).

My point is the different systems can live in tandem and it is most certainly not unreasonable to support more than one.
