There are plenty of Nintendo fans here who have acknowledged the Wii U's issues and lower than par sales in the past. I myself have already stated that its library is in heavy need of expansion and the marketing for the platform has been particularly disappointing.
I don't believe it's a failure. Yet. It can turn out to be after more time on the market and a continuance of low sales, but I don't believe that will ultimately be the case.

Out of curiosity, if there was one concept that would sell you on the platform, what would that be?
Apparently it's good to defend bad grammar in professional journalism.
Doesn't EA own the IP or something?
The part about facts was mostly in regards to the source article. Apparently everyone ignored that portion of my comment in favor of the "Sony" website part which actually was tongue-in-cheek.
Hope that clears things up.
@EDIT: Besides, people on here call me defensive occasionally, particularly when my defense of Nintendo actually does carry facts. Donnieboi, for example, called me defensive/delusional/fanboy/et c. for stating that Unreal Engine 4 ...

"Besides, this article in particular cites NeoGAF as its source."
You're stupid.
Greenlight Brutal Legend sequel.
For what it's worth, there's another article here from a more Sony faithful site that said the Wii U's sales in Japan was bad news. So I suppose that balances out.
Besides, this article in particular cites NeoGAF as its source.
EDIT: Two phantom disagrees already? Man, people here still like to disagree with facts.
@smashcrashbash
"Getting a little defensive aren't you?"
Haven't ...
Probably because your comment was far too logical. You're not the only Sony fan I know who actually really likes the Wii U and consistently compares it to other platforms like the 3DS when "doom and gloom" are part of the discussion. One of my best friends is a huge Sony fan and loves his Wii U very much.
Scroll up and you'll see some people vehemently believe a price drop is absolutely essential to this platform's success despite two weeks of retailer p...
If you have a Wii U, probably that one since it's supposed to be the best version.
If you only have a PC then probably the PC version. Pick whatever option is best for you.
Man oh man, only on N4G (and apparently dedicated Sony sites) will spin positive news as negative. I hate to say that I'm hardly surprised.
There's another article that said this past week that the Wii U outsold the PS3 and the 360 this week in Japan. Not to say that's anything massive, but it certainly is better for the platform than the past couple of months.
Of course people are quick to say how low Wii U sales are, but when the factors change ...
@Donnieboi
"You boys"
Setting the news aside for a second, do you always find it necessary to comment in such a condescending manner?
Hold on a second, for the past couple of months it's been the other way around and the general response is "LOL WII U IS TEH FAILZ." When its flipped the other way, suddenly it's "desperate" or it doesn't matter?
I'm no genius, but that seems a bit hypocritical to me.
@iGAM3R-VII
Well yeah, it did better the one week. So far the only ones who seem to be making it into an issue are the ones trying their hard...
Realistic Car Racing - Wouldn't Nintendo just wind up making a spiritual successor to Blur? Mario Kart's a pretty successful franchise. There isn't much reason for them to invest in a more realistic racing outlet when the world already has Forza and Gran Turismo.
MMORPG - Yeah, I can get behind that.
FPS - While it's more of a First Person Adventure, I'm guessing the author never played Metroid Prime, 2 or 3?
Tower Defense...
Why did a retailer price drop do nothing to boost the sales then? Your theory is shot out of the water. No one will buy even a cheap console if they 1) have no awareness of it and/or 2) there are no games that interest them on the platform.
Evidently the price is not an issue. The 360 initially launched at $400 (the best package for it anyway) and it sold well enough. I think only the PS3 has seen what it's like to launch at a price that's far too high.
Presently the Wii U's largest issues are marketing and its library. I really wish these "journalists" would stop trying to make it into something else.
It's an HD remake of a particularly good game which nearly doubles the overall content. You make that seem like it's a bad thing.
Retailers consistently dropped the price themselves by $50. Why are people disagreeing with this? The price was dropped and it had no lasting effect. It's factual.
Metroid? Star Fox? F-Zero? X? Those are all made either by Nintendo EAD or subsidiaries.
8 confirmed games? Seven of which are multiplatform?
I don't suppose the new 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda/Wind Waker HD, X, Bayonetta 2, Fire Emblem x Shin Megami Tensei or the new Retro Studios game factor into that list?
