Sounds like you know what to look for... a 4K/HDR set with a high refresh-rate will be more expensive, but if gaming is your jam, then I say go for it!
Alternatively, you could always get a regular HD screen to tie you over and give yourself some time to save up for a cutting-edge 4K model... personally, I'm going to wait for next year's Christmas sales - here's hoping the ol' LCD can see me through to then!
Wait... so that's your point?
NEWSFLASH N4G!
Stuff costs money!!!
And yes - the Scorpio WILL cost the same as a PS4P... extra year aside, it's being marketed as a device for the hardcore gamers - who tend to buy a lot of games (which is where the real $$$ is made) - and MS have already proven their willingness to sell their hardware at a loss.
The same thing?
Not exactly... for one, Microsoft (and AMD) are confident that they'll be able to deliver a true 4K experience, and the extra time means they should be able to sell it for the same price as a PS4P.
Not only that, but launching a year later will lessen any associated costs - HDR/4KTV, VR headset, camera, motion controllers, etc - plus it will almost certainly launch with a larger roster of enhanced games, courtesy of the 3rd-party devs that are a...
Is that headline trying to be ironic?
Suggesting that the Scorpio - which won't be released until later next year - is 'jumping the gun' is a little hypocritical, considering the fact that we haven't even seen the console in action... Hell, we don't even really know it's specs or features!
And while I do plan on getting a PS4Pro, it's 'Faux-K' status means I won't upgrade my TV until the Scorpio's release - at w...
@Oreo: No, I'm not thinking of someone else... remember the night before the PS4P reveal? There was a 'What's Sony got up it's sleeve for tomorrow?' article where some fool suggested that the next Red Dead would be revealed as a Playstation exclusive... I explained why that was never going to happen and YOU were all like "don't be so sure" - at which point I bet my N4G account on the outcome.
@Battleaxe: Same - except it was probably my 5th...
My 360 controller was so worn-out that I dreaded the thought of ever bringing it out of retirement... that said, I recently unpacked the ol' 360 up to try out Vanquish's demo - which was AWESOME - so here's hoping it also gets the BC treatment, now that Bayonetta's joined the program.
MS should try adding it to GwG - get people addicted to Platinum in the lead-up to Scalebound's launch... that, or include it as a pre-order bonus.

Awww, it sounds like somebody's still grumpy over Red Dead's absence... Good thing you didn't take the bet.
Okay, it's gonna be regulated... that said, there's plenty of legit stuff I download via torrents, so this is could work out nicely - assuming the XO's media player can handle a bunch of different formats.
One of the guys at IGN coined it 'Faux-K'... I thought that was rather witty.
I already legally own most of the classics from the Sega/Nintendo years, but those consoles are a pain to setup on modern TVs - therefore, I wouldn't feel like a thief for replaying them via an emulator... and whilst I haven't owned a Nintendo since the N64, I am planning on getting a NX - if Nintendo can provide a legit way of playing their classics (not to mention Gamecube, Wii and Wii-U games) on the NX, then I'll happily give them some $$$.
Edit: The Mini NE...
I bet he was all like "Wait - You WANT women in your game? What are you, Gay?!"
You say 'tomato', I say 'tomato'... okay, that phrase doesn't really work on paper, but you know what I mean!
Marketing campaigns cost a LOT of money, which would only serve to raise the game's price/sales targets - hence No Man's Sky's 'AAA' price-tag... why waste $$$ advertising in cinemas when you can just put it on the XO's home screen (which is what they've done) and post trailers on Youtube?
These old-school emulators are perfectly legal - the patents on the consoles listed expired years ago - but the games are still trademarked, so downloading them is illegal... Nintendo will want to shut it down ASAP.
Therefore I suggest that nobody says nothing to noone... what Nintendo doesn't know won't hurt it.
Did you watch the video?
ReCore looks a lot prettier than any indie game I can think of - obviously it's got a smaller budget than Gears of War, but so do games like The Last Guardian and Gravity Rush 2 (both of which are due out this year, neither of which are being marketed)... unlike No Man's Sky, with it's ridiculous price-tag and marketing* campaign.
The Witcher 3 cost roughly $35million to make (which is CHEAP compared to it's peers)...
Considering the pedigree of the devs involved (Inafune, Joseph Staten and Armature), I'd say it's AAA - watch the first 20 minutes (on Youtube) and tell me it isn't - though it is a short-ish game (8-15 hours, depending on how you play) so the price has been lowered to reflect that... I believe it's a concept known as 'value for money' - not to mention you get Banjo Kazooie if you pre-order (though that might just be at Gamestop/EB - not 100% sure).
Okay, I'm still on my first and only playthrough (600 hours, according to the stats and I still haven't 'collected them all'), but I will say that Blood and Wine is even better than HoS... CDPR absolutely NAILED Toussaint and there's stacks of references to the books and I'm actually a little jealous - what I wouldn't give for one of those Men in Black 'memory-wipe' gizmoes!
Yeah, I'm disappointed by the lack of Aussie music... where's AC/DC? Where's Tame Impala?
WHERE'S NICK CAVE AND THE F*@#!NG BAD SEEDS?!
Still getting it day 1 - demo's out this Sunday - but yeah... disappointed
I was ready to punch a hole in my TV when Djikstra said that $#!t... it's a good thing they didn't give me the 'break Djikstra's other leg' option then, cause I would have mashed that button to pieces!
Agree 100% about Ciri - I spent the majority of that game stressing and second-guessing every decision (forced myself to delete old saves as I went), all so she could have the future she deserved... R.I.P Roach & Ves - your plan was terrible.
...
That's the thing - Wild Hunt doesn't so much introduce her character as it continues her arc from the books... Underneath all of that mean-girl stuff is a real sweetheart - she's a bit like Geralt in that regard - but her desire to protect Ciri tends to bring out her more severe side.
Which is understandable, as she's always been like a mother to her - not to mention Ciri's nature makes her the most important/dangerous individual in that world... Triss w...
They said it'd be up to devs as to whether or not to push for 4K, but I feel like that's just Microsoft's way of accounting for indies and lazy Capcom/Konami ports... looking at the PS4P games that have managed native 4K (RotTR & TLoU) and considering Scorpio's increased power, I'm thinking the only current XO title that might not qualify would be Quantum Break, with it's unique '720p' resolution.
Bearing in mind that new games will still...
