OK, so what's in it for the cable TV company? If cable TV business is declining because of services like Netflix and Hulu, why would cable TV companies want to help you get a box for streaming such services such as the Xbox One? I know people whom continuously end or let their cable TV subscriptions expire, and then later take advantage of offers/discounts to re-subscribe again. I think helping such consumers obtain a Xbox One in the process simply opens to doors wider to more flocking to...
I would think many casuals whom only game on tablets may find a great liking to the deeper console-like games and may also eventually become console gamers too wanting that deeper and richer experience in greater graphical fidelity on their 50" TV, therefore strengthening the dedicated console market. Spin it however you like; Pachter was the voice of reason here, and dedicated gaming consoles and PC gaming ain’t going anywhere anytime soon.
I gave an agree vote as I would like to see a console version, preferably PS4, too. I recall Dean "Rocket" Hall, creator of DayZ, saying he'd like to bring DayZ to consoles, but is focusing on PC first. I'm guessing we'll see standalone hit PC in a early form hopefully this holiday, so I think we won't get a console version till holiday 2014 or into 2015 at the earliest.
Agree too. Loved RDR, but loved Manhunt even more. With the US Supreme Court ruling games are protected art, period; this next console generation is so ripe for another Manhunt game IMO.
According to what I heard from my morning news (CBS This Morning) yesterday as I was getting dressed to go to work, GTA5 raking in over $800 million in sales in its first day beat out launch day sales of any physical game, movie, or music album, to date. During a time when we've been seeing many game developers abandon AAA games and move to mobile platforms (like Molynuex here), and AAA game developers and publishers have gone under in the last few years, this news about GTA5's instan...
Thanks man. No worries about the disagrees. My original comment was strictly responding to the article where I see the best gaming bang for your buck as of right now, disregarding my feelings towards either platform since I have both. I felt that for someone wanting to switch to PC gaming now, on the eve of the next generation of consoles, I think I'd advise to stick with consoles as I am seeing game experiences, such as more and better indie games and MMO's, which have been previousl...
I'd say no, its not worth it now with the next console generation starting in a mere 2-3 months.
A year or so ago I would have said yes, definitely. Now after seeing what's to come with PS4 and X1, I am not so sure anymore. I built an entirely new PC early last year, spending close to $2000 total, and have been enjoying next generation-looking games since. And while I have no regrets building my PC as I needed a new PC anyway for non-gaming related reasons too, seeing...
In reading this article, it just hit me what it would be like playing a game like Journey with one of these VR headsets on... Wow, color me interested.
So far for me, Rime has been the only exclusive I've seen for the PS4 that has made me really want to buy a PS4. And as a Silent Hill fan too, hearing Akira Yamaoka's involvement in the soundtrack makes this game a system seller for me.
haha.. I got a great belly laugh from that initial zoom-in at the beginning (shown in the article), but yeah, the venue shots while showing game footage was frustrating as it was so frequent. It seemed like it always panned out when something cool happened in the game and I couldn’t tell what I missed.
But later in the day, that Kaz Hirai parody Twitter account made my day with the following tweet.
"This is the last time I get Uwe Boll to direct the live stream o...
Agreed. Or at the recently announced press conference for Sony Japan/Asia, per the link below.

@Aloren
Good catch! I'll admit I didn't notice the video title & only saw the article title, "Dragon Age: Inquisition combat shown in pre-alpha footage," which is alittle misleading. I still stand behind my comments though as the combat shown and described in the video seemed to take combat further from the combat improvements to DA2 which, in the end, were arguably at the expense of the core RPG elements in Origins. Its obviously too soon to abandon hope on this...
"It seems unlikely that fans of Bioware’s Lord of the Rings-influenced adventure will be super excited about a mobile entry in the franchise, and will likely see this as another example of EA stretching their franchises."
Ding! Ding! Ding! What do we have for him, Johnny!?
I remember hearing that line before Dragon Age 2 released, and many of the RPG elements that made Origins a great RPG were scaled back in DA2. The gameplay and commentary found in this video just seemed too focused on combat gameplay, and that's not what I want improved in Inquisition.
Agreed w/ Menech's comment above. I'm disappointed seeing this video. A 'harpoon weapon to grapple enemies toward you?' Didn't I see that in God of War? Despite the system (PS3) lag, I though the gameplay in Origins was fine. Where is the story, exploration, character development, and the mature themes (revenge, betrayal, romance, etc.)?
Sounds like they've had to delay manufacturing due to all the 180's they've been announcing since E3. They are probably now tweaking and testing the system hardware and software later than anticipated which would result in less time to manufacture prior to launch. Cutting releases to counties where the system is expected to be least popular makes sense albeit to the disappointment of those in those countries who've already pre-ordered. Overall though, I think they're doing...
Having the deteriorating weapons & armor causes the player to have to plan ahead before venturing out into the wasteland. It constantly affected how I played Fallout 3 & New Vegas with decisions I had to make balancing what I need and what I can carry. These are very common characteristics of many RPG's.
Losing the deteriorating weapons & armor is a big step closer to a Call of Duty/action/FPS game where there is now no planing ahead. I personally would'v...
Disagree; weapons and vehicles that don't deteriorate from use will take away from what makes Fallout an RPG. I don't want Fallout to become more of an action game like Rage.
Haven't seen the video (at work ATM) but disagree with the headline. If there is a game or two you really want to play in the launch release window, and more to come in 2014, plus you got the money saved, I'd say its worth buying/getting a system at launch then.
Life is short, enjoy the ride!
I personally think prices need to simply come down for cable TV, period, and they'll see the viewership increase. I can afford it, but its not worth the monthly price IMO and am satisfied with antenna TV and Netflix.
I tend to think there a lot more cable TV consumers whom don't know how to access streaming services (I know a few) that will "get it" once they get their free or low cost Xbox One through their cable company, and then (after the cable TV agreem...
