Great article! I like the part where the author shared his thought on "this violence out of context is brutal, what the holy hell led to this?" This was my thought too watching the trailer. After playing part 1 and feeling enamored about the strong emphasis on story and narrative, I feel confident that the folks at Naughty Dog going to similarly deliver on a great sequel. I'm hoping though the next trailer will provide a little more context and show us that there still is that s...

After how disappointing both Mass Effect: Andromeda and Dragon Age: Inquisition were, I'm done trusting what BioWare says about their games, which is sad because I really enjoyed all the previous games in both series. Anthem looks to be EA's answer to Destiny, which also had a disappointing single-player campaign. I'm not holding my breath for anything great on the single-player front with Anthem.

I recently watched a YouTube theory that Joel may be in Ellie’s imagination in the trailer; the white silhouette when Joel enters the house, how we don’t see his face, and his lack of reaction from the dead in the house seem to support this theory. Perhaps Joel is dead and Ellie is imagining him there as she vows her revenge. She is on her own now… a lone wolf.

I think we'll see gameplay for Death Stranding since Konami forbid Kojima from attending last year's awards. Kojima is ready to show Konami what they lost.

This review seemed pretty accurate based on the hour or so of gameplay I watched over the weekend. I love open world games like Fallout and Elder Scrolls, but this game seemed to get very repetitive after 30-40 minutes of watching gameplay, and story missions seemed really lacking in substance; they're pretty much fetch quests. With the movie video release the same day and Fallout 4 incoming, I think this was a rushed job, and I think the more mainstream reviews are going to average aroun...

I've been sort of hoping for Anchorage, Alaska, as it's referenced in Fallout 3 and we get a taste of from the Operation Anchorage DLC, which I loved.

With the advent of survival games like DayZ, I'd love to see Fallout 4 use a mostly snow-covered environment utilizing survival elements of staying warm, seeking food, water, and shelter (blizzards), outfitting yourself, companions, NPC escorts, and perhaps vehicles with protection and capability of enduring the ha...

I don't recall ever hearing him talk about his passion for game design, but admittedly I've never found his games interesting, which is simply my tastes in games, so I may have missed those talks/articles. Got any great examples?

I have no problem with him expressing his opinion, but I thought it was hypocritical to say that AAA games cannot be profitable with used games as he drives off in his ridiculously expensive sports car. And this happened at a time when many p...

I didn't appreciate all his talk about how game publishers/developers cannot make profit on AAA games because of used games, & he staunchly defended Microsoft's unpopular position last year. IMO, his comments hurt the industry as I believe investors listened. I think he retired convinced of another crash, so now he's coming out of retirement as he sees the industry is very healthy. I always get the impression he doesn't make games because he loves games, but does it becaus...

Less focus on combat. More focus on story, character depth, and world exploration.

Micro-transactions for items in a single-player game are pointless IMO as the fun is discovering awesome items in the world & the challenge to acquire them. Always online won't happen considering the reception at last year's E3 unless for multiplayer tacked on.
As far as delays, I suspect it's Elder Scrolls Online. I know they're a separate team, but as one whom works in business software development, teams move development resources all the time. My hope is the de...

Valve threw support to Sony's PS3 w/ Portal 2, & with Sony listening to developers more about simplicity in hardware design (Gabe's #1 complaint w/ the PS3) with the PS4, I think its possible we may see Valve at Sony's press conference, maybe with a tease of Half-Life 3 for the PS4, which would be amazing! Very doubtful any of Half-Life 3 will be exclusive though as Valve would need Windows support, & Microsoft would probably want Xbox One support in return.
Noneth...

I really enjoyed Final Fantasy's IV, IX, X, & XII, but really disliked XIII. XIII felt like a combat-focused obstacle course with a uninteresting story, world, & characters. I remember playing it right after 100+ hours of Dragon Age: Origins & it was so clear how XIII lacked story, characters, exploration, & that sense of adventure that I look for in RPGs. I didn't bother w/ XIII-2 nor XIII: LR.

How can Smudged Cat Games use Cameron's likeness here? The last place I want my, or any gamers, money to go is in the pocket of some bible-thumping moron who has been outspoken against violence in video games.

Whenever I see articles about celebrities or media types blaming video games for violence, I always think of a Chris Rock bit I saw on one of his standup videos where he talks about this, saying he too doesn't get why people blame movies, music, etc., and he ends with the punchline: 'What ever happened to just crazy?!'

You're right. My apologies, per my edit to my original comment. I am still really skeptical of Polygon though; they seem to always go out of their way find fault w/ PS exclusives; The Last of Us being the most recent example. As a gamer, that is journalism I am really intolerant of.

4256d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

As usual, Polygon attempts to trash a PlayStation exclusive before release and E3, just like they tried with The Last of Us. I haven't read the article; I don't need to read it know the entire article is full of BS. I never click on Polygon or Kotaku articles anymore because their bias against anything PlayStation is just too much.

IMO, this game seems like it might play similarly to Mass Effect 2/3 and I like the setting so far. Add a great story with interesting, we...

Maybe a trailer to a movie/TV series, instead of a game. I cannot recall that ever done at E3 before. And in this case, it would be the series/movie thing that Spielberg is doing.

You're right; I stand corrected. Thanks! +bubble! Looks like I was confusing w/ the Classic Controller: Google "wii u pro controller compatible games list", first hit Wikipedia, defaults list to Classic Controller.. Ugh! Nintendo's controllers has been a personal complaint of mine since the Wii as many Wii games did forced the Nunchuck controller, which I didn't like at all. It is good to see Nintendo is supporting the Pro Controller more on Wii U games & this just r...

Good article; agree on all points, especially making the gamepad optional. I recall caving & buying a GameCube only when it was $150 with The Wind Waker included. $300 is way too much & the lack of Pro-Controller support on most 1st party games is a deal-breaker for me. Like Microsoft making Kinect optional, Nintendo should sell the WiiU w/ a supported Pro-Controller instead, and larger HDD, for $200, and they'll see sales spike, especially when some big 1st party games release li...
