Despite being a big Scrolls & Fallout fan, I’ve managed to avoid 76 so far; maybe when the Wastelanders DLC arrives, I’ll reconsider. I believe it's ZeniMax whom wanted BGS to make 76 as it is, and BGS gave them what they wanted and also proved (hopefully) it’s not what their fans want. I still have faith in BGS for their future games despite 76; their next game will be more telling.
From what I gather from the articles (alt source article too), the subscription is for a private world only; playing on a public server is still free after the game purchase price. Is that correct? Still BS that there is exclusive content, like that cool New Vegas armor, that could be easily made available to public worlds too. Glad I skipped on 76.
I too agree w/ the article. I bought my 1st Switch just a little over 2 months ago, played BOTW to about the halfway point and became bored/frustrated with it. I'm already playing other backlog games on my PS4 again. I'm sure I'll go back to BOTW and give it another chance, but agree it's far from the best Zelda IMO. My biggest gripes are the story and character writing is dull and uninteresting; most/all side quests are also dull/uninteresting and feel like a fetch quests; an...
I don’t know; it seems like a cross between MGS and No Man Sky w/ a bit of Demon Souls’ multiplayer. While it does look interesting, I haven’t seen enough to buy yet; will wait for reviews.
I think Kojima would have been better creating the horror game he had in mind for Silent Hills and just called it something else (“Quiet Mountains”, “Soundless Forest”, etc.). That would’ve been an awesome dig on Konami too. Lol!
As a big Silent Hill fan, I think I wo...
No problem. What I'm more interested in is the comparative size of the dialog/voice acting script.
Though the base game is multi platform, it seems from Mr. Booty’s comments that DLC may very well be Microsoft exclusive, which would stink for those whom really enjoy the base game and are not playing on an Xbox console or PC. I’ve only got a PS4 for this, and just bought a Switch last week, so not sure on picking this up on day 1 yet despite I really liked Fallout: New Vegas.
Hillary Clinton just tweeted earlier this week: "people play video games in virtually every other country on earth. The difference is the guns."
Yep, definitely waiting for the new OG Switch w/ better battery performance before buying. Hopefully it'll be available early August.
Impressive. It will be interesting to see how the new $200 Lite model boosts these sales too. I’ve yet to get a Switch myself, but am now considering getting one when the new $300 Switch model with longer battery life hits shelves. The last Nintendo system I bought/played was a GameCube, so that’s saying something there.
I think all Sony is saying with being a niche product is the next PlayStation will NOT be called 'PlayStation One'.
@phoenixwing Thanks for your reply. My thoughts exactly; I’d like to play Breath of the Wild and GRIS, plus the upcoming Zelda and Metroid, but nearly $400 (console + pro controller + tax) is too steep to me for only a few games I’m interested in, especially with a huge backlog of games to play on my PS4. I honestly still would like to see Nintendo go 3rd party; I believe they’re held back by their hardware and their 1st party games would sell like gangbusters on PS4 and other platforms.
While expected, I was hoping for also a home only version, perhaps a Roku sized console w/ the Pro controller for about $100 to $150 (perhaps bundled w/ a game). I’m not interested in on-the-go gaming.
Glad to read this! I have been somewhat fearful with PlayStation's current success of the PS4 that we may see a repeat of history where Sony took their eye off this ball after the success of the PS2, but Mr. Ryan is saying all the right things here with good supporting sales numbers. I also hope their competition is paying attention here as such competition for story-driven games will inevitably lead to more and better games, across all platforms, in the future.
A couple studios I noticed not on the article’s list that I personally think also would be worth acquisition:
- First is Fumito Ueda’s relatively new studio genDESIGN: Ueda got his start with Sony headlining Team ICO, creating masterpieces such as ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian. I’m very interested in any future games Ueda creates and his games are system sellers for me personally.
- Another is thatgamecompany who brought Journey, Flow, and Flower to Play...
Manhunt 3
I thought both Dead Nation and How to Survive were great on PS4 too.
His response regarding No Man's Sky's troubled release: "The problem was players' expectations…"
His response for the same regarding Anthem: "[it] comes with the EA penalty so people are predisposed to hate on it…"
Really?! Blame gamers?! I think the "problem" was both game's developers made many promises that weren't met at release.
I'd been hoping someday Konami would re-release the ol' Castlevainia games. Simon's Quest & Dracula's Curse have been longtime favorites that I've wanted to play again. Will be great, most of all, to play these with a modern game controller. I still have a working SNES and Castlevania IV cramped up my old man hands something awful. Lol!
I agree with the author, but to me the protagonist doesn’t need to be some other race. The protagonist just needs to be interesting! See Geralt, Kratos, and Aloy, to name a few. To me, the generic protagonist and story from the trailer left a lot to be desired, and with no gameplay shown either, it’s very concerning that Respawn couldn’t have shown more considering this is announced for release before the end of this year.
Really surprised/disappointed that Days Gone received no nominations and Metro Exodus only received one nomination (Action Game) and wasn't nominated for GOTY. Both are easily my top two games I played this year. I'd say Days Gone edges over Metro though if I had to choose. Playing Death Stranding currently and enjoying it; but still not as good as the aforementioned.
