Kinect is obviously aimed at casuals, not core gamers. I don't think it's dead at all. It's just not targeted toward people who read N4G and following gaming news.
Really, it shouldn't even be compared to Move. Kinect is going for a different market.
Right. The price stabilized at "$10 cheaper than online." So when the online price rises by $10, the discounted price should rise by $10 as well. It's still a $10 discount, but it's also still $10 more expensive than it was before the online price hike.

In fairness though, all of the things you listed really were good business decisions for Microsoft, because as we've seen people are happy to keep putting up with it, and there are always fanboys on the internet who are willing to write articles rationalizing stuff like this. As long as Microsoft can keep fleecing its customers with impunity, why shouldn't it do so?

You're completely right that Liberty City was well-designed and the level of detail is incredible. If we were just going to grade the game on how cool Liberty City is to drive around in, it would get a 10. But that's not the only factor we rate games on. Gameplay matters, and unfortunately the gameplay in GTA4 just wasn't up to speed. The missions were super-repetitive (drive somewhere, kill some guy, lose 3 stars, repeat) and the whole "friends" thing was a PITA and...
I bought it on day 1 and played all the way the main story. It was fun and I feel like I got my money's worth out of it, but no way was it a 10/10. More like an 8.5. RDR was significantly better IMO.

Which is exactly why you get hit with a price hike to begin with. Microsoft knows that the overwhelming majority of its customers aren't going to drop their XBL accounts over $10, so it seizes upon the opportunity to fleece them.
If the only console you own is a 360, of course you'll keep paying for XBL. What are you going to do, not play online?
Of course, this is just yet another reason for people not to buy a 360 in the first place.

Yes, I'm sure Sony is terrified that its competitor raised the price it charges for a feature that Sony offers for free.
2011 is make-or-break for the 360 in its effort to pull casuals away from Nintendo. Given the lack of core exclusives, it's obvious that Microsoft isn't even trying to compete with Sony anymore.
