Kinect = "the next Xbox." It's not a 720, but think of it as a 540. Microsoft doesn't want to release an entirely new stand-alone console right now, so it's using Kinect as an intermediate step.
Why would Sony want to release a camera with broken, laggy technology?
I wish this wasn't releasing in the same month as KZ3.
I'll be picking this up.
It doesn't look like guys last too long in jetpacks.
"The case is strong that suggests Microsoft is betting the house on Kinect, with the company hoping it can hinge on the hardware's success and generate an entirely new market for the console."
The author is exactly right. Kinect is basically Microsoft's new console. Obviously Microsoft is going after the casual market and doesn't seem to be trying to compete with Sony over the core market any more. This is an odd strategy because the 360 has always ...
The author is right that Donkey Kong is an iconic, milestone game. But I'm pretty sure other developers would have eventually included a "jump" button or made a side-scroller or made a kart racer.
Online co-op? Check.
Tacked-on multiplayer? Check?
African eye-candy following you around and wasting ammo? Unknown.
This is starting to look like RE5, and I don't mean that in a good way.
"PS3 is probably considered dying too, Xbox 360 is taking over and the statistics all show this. "
Odd. When I look at the upcoming release schedule, the picture looks almost exactly reversed.
Halo, Gears
GT5, LBP2, KZ3, Motorstorm Apocalypse, Last Guardian, inFamous 2, Agent
Enjoy your multiplats.
Always glad to see Demon's Souls get some love. He's 100% right that you need to use a wiki because the game doesn't really explain itself, but I think that's by design, and it makes it more community-oriented than it might have been otherwise.
Edit: Oh yeah, and Portal 2 looks pretty good too. I didn't realize it was coming out in February. I may or may not be done with ME2 by then, and it puts it right up against Dead Space, Motorstorm, and Killzon...
I don't get the constant squabbling over sales. Personally, it doesn't matter to me if the PS3 ever sells another unit anywhere. The bottom line is that I have a ton of exclusives to play; if I had bought the other console, I wouldn't. Sales charts are a small consolation for not having any games to play.
A lot of what I've read so far makes this sound "dumbed down," but I need to see some gameplay before I decide.
Sry -- double post.
I actually still slightly prefer Uncharted 1 to Uncharted 2. It's a great game.
then EA would charge EVERYBODY an extra $10 (or whatever) to play online, not just people who bought used copies. The fact that they impose this charge only on secondhand buyers and not on new game buyers completely contradicts the idea that it's about online.
That said, I think it's only a matter of time before we start seeing that kind of online surcharge. XBL proves that people are willing to pay a surprisingly large amount of money for online gaming. When COD...
Even if it is just a Wiimote, so what? If it only supports Wii-type shovelware, I just won't buy it. If it's well-integrated with core games, I will. It's not that complicated an issue.
I'm extremely glad they got rid of the spawn grenades. They were a good concept, but bad tacticians just absolutely ruined them and made some game modes almost unplayable (like the one where you had to plant charges and defend them, where both sides would inevitably put down spawn points right next to the objective).
Removing spot and mark from the sniper is a big change too.
Agreed. The drop in game sales is obviously caused by a variety of factors, not the least of which is the lousy economy. That said, Pachter is almost certainly right that online play doesn't help.
Why do sales of Halo: Reach bother you so much? Of course this title is going to sell a ton of games. Halo and Gears are the two flagship franchises on the 360, so I don't see why this is noteworthy. I won't be buying a copy, but good for Bungie, and I hope 360 owners enjoy it.
