Two reasons why you might care:
1. If you have an older HDTV that doesn't have HDMI inputs. I had one of these up until about two years ago.
2. If your currently HDTV doesn't have enough HDMI inputs to support everything you'd like to hook it up to. I'm not in this situation, but I could easily imagine somebody who is.
As a bunch of other people have pointed out, this isn't Sony's fault. That doesn't m...
When you don't have exclusives to play, you have to find other things to do with your time, I guess. Like worrying about download numbers for betas.
1.5 million downloads for a beta seems pretty good to me.
Personally, I didn't download it because I'm not particularly interested in Uncharted's multiplayer. I'll still be buying it one day one for the single player.
I'm completely fine with this, but I do hope that the pass is good for everyone who uses a particular machine as opposed to just one PSN ID. My son and I both play under different accounts, and I would be mildly ticked if I had to shell out an extra $10 for him to be able to play online, after already spending $60 on a new copy of the game itself.
Edit: As others noted, this has nothing to do with piracy. It's just about chipping into the used games market.
Very well said. Bubbles for this.
No reason for Microsoft to make XBL free when people have shown a strong willingness to pay for it. Heck, they just raised the price by $10 last year.
LOL @ including kinect titles in that list. Have fun with those.
"Haters refuse to put xbla or motion controller games on these exclusive lists purely because MS totally dominate in those fields. "
When you have to point children's kinect games and arcade titles to justify your console's library, you've conceded the argument.
That's what they said with the unplayable KZ3 beta, and lo and behold the final product ended up sucking with the exact same problems at launch.
Not saying the same with happen with U3 and ND, but people are right to be worried about this kind of thing.
Skyrim isn't going to flop no matter when it's released.
Exactly. I'm glad somebody else understands this.
Demon's Souls is one of the very few games out there that was MEANT to be played with a guide or wiki. Without one, it's almost impossible to figure out what the various statistics mean, what different types of stones (sharpstone, marrowstone, etc) do, what you can do with boss souls, what items like the Broken Sword are for, how character tendency works, and so on.
You don't need a guide...
Day one.
I dunno. Maybe play to have fun? Wild concept, I know, but I sunk a ton of hours into KZ2 and BC2 even after I had unlocked everything and earned all the online trophies/medals I was going to earn.
KZ2 was stellar. KZ3 was probably the most disappointing game of this gen for me. Maybe with six more months of development it would have been okay, but even that might not have helped since most of the maps blow anyway.
"To assume at such an early stage that Microsoft is abandoning its hardcore crowd is frankly ridiculous.
What is prompting you guys to say this is the strong emphasis on Kinect at this year's E3. "
No, actually it was last year's E3 also. After a full calendar year, I think it should be clear to everyone that Microsoft is changing its strategy a bit.
If I was Microsoft, I wouldn't want to trade places with Sony either. Obviously the 360 has been more commercially successful than the PS3.
But you're the one living the bubble if you don't see that Microsoft has made a strategic business decision to abandon the hardcore market. Yeah, the 360 is getting multiplats, but there's very little reason for a core gamer to own a 360 anymore unless you really, REALLY want Gears. Sony is just putting out a better g...
"Explain to me how Microsoft is all about "casual gaming?" "
Probably because they have almost no hardcore exclusives, aside from the usual suspects (Gears, Halo, Forza). Microsoft has made it pretty clear that they're all about Kinect.
From a business perspective, that's proved to be a positive thing for them. From a hardcore gamer's perspective though, it's not such a great development.
"Got all these on release. Wheres my goodies Sony?"
Your goodies are that you got to play some epic games a few years ago.
You do realize that other games besides just Bulletstorm and KZ3 have come out in the last 16 weeks, right? It's not like PS3 owners finished KZ3 and then had no choice but to go back to Bulletstorm if they wanted games to play.
So a game I'm not going to buy might have taken up a small portion of my hard drive, most of which is currently vacant. This is big news.
