Innovative graphics, but incredibly boring and repetitive gameplay IMO. I have to agree that this was a seriously disappointing game.
Oh and by the say, Uncharted 1 was stellar.
Dark Souls FTW.
Gears wins by default.
Breaking these out by platform was kind of dumb. Either a game was among the best of this generation or it wasn't -- which platform it happened to appear on is irrelevant.
Agreed. This is what I came in here to post.
I'm now over 30 hours in and my save file is at 7.5MB. Still no freezes, and very minimal framerate drops. In other words, this game is running almost flawlessly for me, especially considering that it's a Bethesda game.
Not saying that others haven't had problems, but I've had none at all.
"what i want to know is, did the reviewers actually play all the way through the game on the PS3? if not, then how do you review it, if yes, then why the hell not mention this game breaking problem? "
Because not everybody is encountering this issue. My save file is about 7.2MB, and this game is running almost perfectly for me. No freezes, minimal framerate drops, etc.
Why? It makes sense to me that Sony and Microsoft need to spend a little time with the patch to make sure it doesn't mess up other stuff. That's just basic QA, which frankly Bethesda needs to learn an thing or two about.
Hours played: 22
Save file: 6.1MB
Freezes: None. Not even one.
Framerate drops: Very occasionally. No big deal.
Overall experience: Nearly perfect.
"for one if their is a category for best 360 game....shouldn't it be only games that are only available on the 360??"
That's what happens when you don't produce exclusives.
"Multiplayer was obviously added as an afterthought"
What? I buy these games for SP only because I'm not into this type of multiplayer, but I was always under the impression that Uncharted's multiplayer was top-notch and had long legs, unlike the Bioshocks and Dead Spaces of the world.
"And because this franchise is so successful we see lots of publishers attempting to take a piece of the pie and devoting all their time and resources to one genre. The sad part is that for every one successful first person shooter, we get 3 or 4 bad ones. In the end, the true hard-core gamer ends up suffering because they want something new and instead they get what sells."
He has a point. Killzone is a good example of a game that tried to be different, but ultima...
Obviously. And of course it will work, and of course idiots will come out of the woodwork to defend them.
I would actually prefer that they not fix the dragon head glitch. I didn't use it until the very end of my first playthrough, but at that point it was nice to be able to load up on materials, spells, etc. for trophy-hunting purposes. Not having to grind for this stuff was helpful.
Fantastic game. I'm putting off Uncharted 3 and Skyrim for now thanks to the addicting nature of Dark Souls.
Also, I'm starting to think that Ornstein and Smough might be the best boss fight I've encountered in video games so far. That one is epic.
I wonder where all those "It's a beta, not a demo" people are now?
Glad to see Kinect is finally catering to the harcore audience.
"Outdated gameplay mechanics" in Uncharte 2? Really? Well, that tells me everything I need to know about the AV Club and how much weight I should put on their opinion.
Not giving this one a hit. Sorry.
Disagree. Boss battles are great in games that call for them (Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, MGS, etc). They would be wildly out of place in a game like Uncharted.
In fact, the thing I like most about Uncharted 1 is that it completely abandoned the entire concept of "boss fights," which was cool because it really didn't need them. Uncharted 2 could have done without the guy at the end of the train, and the final fight against Lazarovich (sp) could have used s...
