Demon's Souls had much better multiplayer and better weapon balance. Dark Souls has a much better-designed world and a deeper magic system. I think I prefer Demon's to Dark overall, but it's really close.
Dragonslayer Ornstein and Executioner Smough deserve to be on this list.
Beat this game, bitched about the ending, platted it, and moved on. I don't care what they do now.
Agreed. This isn't news.
"Apparently, Mass Effect 3's ending is controversial because it leaves a lot of questions unanswered. "
Two problems here:
1) The ending isn't "controversial." Almost everybody agrees that it sucks. Conservatives and liberals, Palestinians and Israelis, Red Sox fans and Yankee fans, etc. can all find common ground in humanity's shared understanding that ME3's ending is an abomination.
2) Then reason why t...
I think I actually slightly prefer U3 to U2. But that doesn't really matter, because they're both stellar. Anybody who lists U3 on a "most disappointing" list is obviously just trolling for hits and won't get one from me.
I thought ME2 was overrated the first time I played it. Then I did my Insanity run, which was way more fun than my first playthrough. So my vote is for "not overrated."
Edit: Never played ME1, but ME3 is nowhere near as good as ME2.
I would have added Arkham City and Dark Souls. But I can't really argue with the top 3. Those were all awesome.
Online passes and stuff like that are fine with me as long as it comes free when you buy a new game. I have absolutely no problem with firms wanting to discourage used games. That's fair.
DRM is a different issue though. When I buy a game, I expect to be able to play it, even if my internet happens to go out (SP of course). I will be seriously pissed if the rumors about always-on internet are true. If I'm going to have to deal with DRM, I might as well skip the n...
@FredEffinChopin -- I understand where you're coming from. I'm still pissed over the From Ashes DLC for ME3, which I refused to buy on principle. It's just that RE6 in general and RE6 mercs in particular is a low priority for me, partly because I fully expect Capcom to nickle and dime people who buy their products.
I actually thought U3 was, if anything, a little underrated. Depending on my mood, I might slightly prefer it to U2, which swept GOTY when it came out.
Personally, I just don't care. RE6 is the sort of game I'll definitely play at some point, but probably not until it drops down to the $30 price point or so. And I'm not interested in mercs.
One thing I've learned this gen is that reviewers just can't be trusted when it comes to major releases. GTA4, Fallout: New Vegas, Skyrim (PS3), and ME3 all got over-rated for one reason or another, but what they have in common is that the problem with these games should have been obvious to reviewers.
Nope, sorry. The last 15 minutes of Mass Effect 3 are genuinely bad. The author is right that the rest of the series is great, but fans have every right to complain over the half-baked ending.
It has nothing to do with hand-holding. The issue is that Mass Effect is a well-written franchise with highly developed, thoughtful story lines. So when that all gets chucked out the window at the very end and we get a moronic ending pulled straight out of the Matrix sequels, peop...
I have an awesome idea for a trilogy that people are sure to like, but I'm not sure how to tie up the ending in a satisfactory manner. I wonder if this guy could give me some pointers.
Agree. There is no way the next generation requires an internet connection to function. Way too many people either don't have high speed internet or have a poor connection.
Bioware sucks so hard that their suckiness has spread to other developers.
I gave a rip about ME3's multiplayer, I would really be ticked about this. But since the MP is ass, I'm okay with it.
I can't believe this reviewer seriously compared the ending to ME3 to the ending of 2001: A Space Odyssey. There's a big difference between an ending being open-ended and challenging vs. an ending being just gibberish.
Edit: Although I agree that Bioware should just stick with their ending.
Loved the first two games, but I'll probably pass on this one or wait for a price cut. I got burned on Resident Evil 5, and I'm not making that mistake again.
