Agreed! Red Faction 1 is one of my most memorable 1st person shooter experiences for a number of reasons, 2 of which you mentioned.

Microsoft had a reliable, advanced and feature filled system in the original XBOX. Software library could have been a little more well rounded.

So They may load their next console up heavily, and at the same time, keep the 360/Kinect going for the casual crowd.

The COD online gameplay is top notch! But the single player campaigns are too short, way to linear and the respawning A.I. is unrealistic and uncalled for.

COD will continue to dominate the way Madden does each year. It's become an annual event, and won't be dethroned until you see a chain reaction of one friend after the other jumping ship to support Battlefield. So even if Battlefield trumps COD in every department, you still have to have friends of friends follow e...

Red Faction needs to go back to being a FPS.

It's fun to watch and hear about E3, but winning it is absolutely meaningless. Look at Microsoft last year... They were considered the loser, because of a boring presentation and Kinect overkill. It obviously didn't matter, because the slim 360 and Kinect that were on display at the show, went on to generate mega $$$ for Microsoft.

Advertising and making those moring/evening news rounds around the holidays is where it really counts. Sony's NGP will benefit greatly...

Can't wait for this HD (wide screen) version for the console.

God how I miss lengthy single player campaigns.

IMO... Half-Life 2 water hazard level is the best! http://youtu.be/aTr5Ge2QSDw

I've been gaming for decades, and to see 3 consoles compete so well this generation is pretty remarkable. Change is one thing the industry always goes through.

Just about every manufacturer is working on glasses free technology, and perfecting it will be a big challenge.

Here is Samsungs latest prototype. - http://www.engadget.com/201...

@the peoples champ...

I'm in the states. A friend of mine at work only has a PS3 and is a big Sony fan... But the only 2 games he buys each year is the new Madden and Tiger Woods... I shit you not.

Games, games, games, and yet COD Black Ops is PS3's best selling game to date world wide.

I got burnt out on the series after Modern Warfare 1, but it looks as though PS3 fans outside N4G support multi platform games, and the list is huge for the rest of this year. Tough choices ahead.

I'll still buy new if I really can't wait. But until these developers can make single player campaigns longer again... Used is the way to go.

Well... It's Monday, and were back to these "why" and "how" console war stories.

Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo are all (profiting) in the gaming market, and that's all that maters to the shareholders.

For some gamers yes... For me no. Advice to developers... Concentrate less on multiplayer, and focus more on a deep lengthy story based shooter.

I want my Half-Life 3 already Valve!
