...but I'm in Japan. I don't know where you are, but if it isn't Japan it won't really help you much.

If it helps, the delivery people picked it up yesterday and Sony said that I'd have it back by the second week of January. I had to send the game in with it so they could check, but there was nothing else going on except the failed rendering outside the fortress.

I might end up with a refurb, but that's got to be tough to do. I've got a 20GB, and they're rare h...

I was playing Uncharted in the Fortress, when I noticed that the sky and ocean outside the windows had become a uniform blue. I realized that something had happened with the rendering, so I decided to restart the game. I quit out of the game, and waited a few minutes, but nothing happened so I hard-booted it.

As soon as it booted up, I had no disc icon. I couldn't play anything. I tried with RFOM, with BF:MC, and with GT3, but nothing worked. I called them and they said I had ...

...and I was surprised to find that they don't even want the hard drive when you send it. They want you to remove it before you send it in.

Now that I've got the damn thing out and saw how easy it was to do it, I've been thinking about getting a bigger drive. 2.5" are expensive here, but it might be worth it for my television shows.

Samsung has good sets because of Sony.

Sony has good sets because of Samsung.

If they break up now, both companies will lose the market as they retool to build their shared components at a higher cost than they are doing right now.

Do you understand? They are all cheap right now because they share production. If they stop sharing, they stop being cheap.

games do you think will be moving to the 360? Except for a few Sony standards, most of the great games are multi-platform already.

Maybe FFXIII? MGS4? GT5? LBP? I'm sorry, fellow gamer, but those games won't be moving over unless Sony sells them to MS.

I really don't understand what is wrong with you guys...

The single greatest console FPS ever to be invented comes out in March, and you guys rant and rave about the same games being reinvented with new graphics and the super-amazing-next-gen feature of "different weapons". COD4, Killzone2, Halo 3, UT3, etc....these are all the same games as we've been playing for 5 years, with new fancy bells, and you accept this sort of thing as next-gen?

I hate soun...

At least in Japan, it's written in big bold lettering on the box that you can't play PS2 games. Everyone will know that the 40Gb doesn't play PS2 games the instant they look at the box.

If, after buying one, someone doesn't know that the PS3/40Gb doesn't play PS2 games, it's their own fault for not reading the damn box.

I think Top Gear will be available to all, you'll just have to wait to have it translated for your Japanese version.

There are a lot of GT fans looking forward to seeing it here, so I think they'll be annoyed if we don't get it.

That's what I was saying. India has a huge middle class who want to buy stuff, and the population is almost as high as China's. It's expected to be higher than China in a few years too. So it's not a short-term investment here, it's long-term: India is going up in the world.

If they DON'T start selling to Indians, these companies deserve to fail.

...but the Indian middle class is about the same size as the entire population of the US. This of course means that there is a market - bigger than the entire US market - for consoles in India, if only MS, Nintendo, and Sony can exploit it properly.

Seriously, India is the one to watch right now.

Sure, it could be a bomb, but I think you're basing your argument on false info. Your understanding of the relative markets is a bit off.

First, FF fans are not young. They are in their late 20s and early 30s. EDIT: Sorry about that, the first point should be aimed at CryBaby, not you. Ignore this one...

Second, and probably more importantly here, do you know how old the average gamer is across all genres? I'll give you a hint; they aren't teenagers. Fallout won...

Not 1.1 .

Many people who have a Wii, have it FOR the party games, I think.

I haven't been interested in anything else that has been offered for the Wii yet. And since I'm a slave to eye candy, I'll always buy a beautiful PS3 game before I buy a good-looking Wii game (I'll probably change when Civilization comes out though).

(I have to admit that I only have 2 PS3 games and 5 Wii games. I'm not exactly what you'd call a hard-core gamer anymore.)

It's actually cheaper to get the game in stores, even if the MSRP is higher. The cheapest I've seen it so far is 4280 yen, but I'm sure there're cheaper versions.

that you are the most entertaining of the Wii dislikers. Carry on the good work while I get a hernia playing Mario and Sonic.

6684d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

I've always thought FPS were repetitive and self-derivative. I never liked any of the really popular ones, except Battlefield 1942 and BF2.

I was never GOOD at any other FPS, so that probably has a lot to do with my disliking them.

I won't buy any FPS that doesn't have vehicles, maps bigger than my town, and hills off which sniping campers can be shot.

You're right that Japanese gamers aren't as into Western-made games, but you could say the opposite thing about Western customers. Why aren't they more interested in RPGs?

In Japan, even mediocre RPGs sell well, but in the West, only the ones with the best gameplay and stories are popular. The opposite is true of FPSs.

There is no genre here that is unplayed, and the XBox is popular amongst most gamers, just not in the general public (which is what is important...

See, I don't think it has to do with difficulty, it has to do with interest. RFOM has a great story and I think has done well here, but it's an FPS. Uncharted has an interesting looking story (I don't know all of it), and the graphics are way better than RFOM, but it just doesn't grab me.

Frankly, I rarely understand why games are popular in the West (except COD and the like), and I'm from Toronto.
