In the US, a penis is considered X-rated, but shooting someone's brains out is PG-13. What a fuvcked up country!

Edit: and what does Pearl Harbor have to do with excessive blood being only allowed in media for over-18s?

Japan isn't as hypocritical in its rating system as the US is. Both violence AND sex receive adult ratings here. If a game has excessive blood and violence, it receives an adult rating.

And I've got a rant for you.

Not everyone speaks English natively and knows the idiotic and illogical rules that English follows.

Hmmm. I think I didn't explain very clearly.

I'm seriously not trying to slag R&C, I think it's a cool game, and the genre is fun too. I played the demo and could see appeal of it.

Look at it like this. Compare Wolfenstein to Quake to Halo to the new Battlefield coming out next year. Each of those is the same genre, and each added new toys/weapons (and better graphics) that made each more fun than the one before. But each also has/had a huge leap in gamepla...

Japanese are no different in terms of how many they buy, they're just different in that they want a good story in their games.

Halo's fun, but the story archetype is a bit tired, and the dialogue is best described as testosterone-laced. Honestly, if I wanted to watch manly banter, I'd watch Rambo on youtube, not pay 7000 yen for a game.

And R&C is not my kind of game. It's Super Mario Brothers with HD graphics. Admittedly beautiful graphics, but not a whole...

I dunno. So far I've been playing in 10-12 player maps on the demo, and the craziness is fun. I just don't like the fact that the game ignores historical accuracy (no one had heat-seekers in WWII).

For my flight sim fix, I'll wait for the next Zero-sen to come out. That was a fun game, even if you did get unlimited ammo.

...and lost bubbles for it. But Oceania is NOT a crucial market. It has 75% the population of Spain, and half of Italy.

I'm not arguing that Italy and Spain are big markets, I'm arguing that Oz, NZ, Fiji, and Papua New Guinea are in total a tiny market.

And neither should you say that Germany and the UK are huge. Together they make the same population as Japan, which counteracts any huge bias on either part.

(I don't understand why people think tha...

Too bad the Wii version of this is going to be later. Since ditching my PC, I've been aching for a good strategy game, and I'll have to buy this when the first ones are released for PS3 and 360.

This guy is really annoying. I don't understand why or how he became an expert on video games, but I'm guessing it's because "loud and annoying" seems to be really popular right now.

It seems to me that while the cinematics and stories are much better, and even give enough to a game to make it worth the money, FPSs aren't a whole lot different than they were when we were playing Castle Wolfenstein.

Those scenes looked really cool, but didn't really have anything to do with gameplay. Rail shooting? Cutscenes? We've seen those before.

Destructible environments that are actually destructible, good AI to fill up slots in multiplayer, there are a ...

Brilliant analysis of my comment, Lumbo. Reading comprehension is essential on the Internet.

XVid is under Gnu, so it'd be free. They just have to get it running on PPC architecture, but that wouldn't be too hard to do.

(I don't know if it's been done already, and I'm too lazy to google.)

And how many PC gamers are going to be able to afford the XXXXXXXXXL version? That's like 500 square meters of material.

They could use your console as an attack hub against other networks, slowing down your connection, and ending with you arrested and spending 23 years to life in a low-security prison with no hope of ever touching something electric again. Not even a watch.

Or it could be crap. Unless the PS3 comes with no firewall, it should be pretty safe from worms/trojans/etc..

Riiiiiiight. Washed out colours. There was no discernible difference whatsoever.

...there are still only 20 million of you. Unless everyone is going to buy 15 of every console, you can't match the pure buying power of, for example, the USA. The size of your economy says nothing about the size of your population, nor does it magically increase the number of systems that Aussies are going to buy.

That's why this article - like every other article about XBox, PS3 and Wii sales - is retarded.

6655d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Absolutely. Though the Japan numbers are 6 times higher, we are also just a drop in the population bucket. Just to be clear, I wasn't harping on the fact that the 360 is doing well, I was harping on the constant barrage of meaningless numbers from meaningless markets. And meaningful markets too.

I just want news on games, I don't care who's "winning".

Edit: Hah! I lost a bubble because I was sarcastic about Australia. I knew you Aussies had teeth!
