Nice work, Cheez, downloading now.

EDIT: Don't see any difference with just a brief look. Maybe nothing special.

I dunno about the grenade launcher yet. It sucks to get hit with the it by someone running past you, but it's great for clearing rooms. I don't mind getting killed by someone using it well.

I use it all the time in headquarters on maps with a lot of tight spaces. It's great to get 4 person kills. :-)

I will as soon as it comes out here. I'm hoping that there will be some full mods by then.

EDIT: Plus, I really want new maps for COD4, but I won't pay for them.

It's the principle of the thing. If they released a mod kit, or a Halo-like sandbox mode, we could make our own maps using their statics. This is the problem with coming from PC to console; you really find out soon what you're missing.

Oh how I wish that consoles had more user generated content! I don't want to pay for stuff like extra maps which come for free on the PC.

EDIT: Apparently someone LIKES paying for new maps.

I know, I'm just saying that I'm not worried about it because of that.

Honestly, I don't know why so many console FPSs have such crappy lobby systems. If you could choose your own server based on ping, I'd be much happier. (Yes, I'm looking at you, COD4.)

...but for those of us in Asia and Oceania, the lag between us and people in the EU or US sucks. Massively. As in, COD4 becomes completely unplayable due to lag when there's even one European or North American in the game.

I know for many people this regional thing stinks, but for me and a lot of others, this is awesome. No lag = great fun.

Of course, it'd be better if they just gave you the option of choosing who you want to play with.

...but I think casuals are a bigger market in total. That's probably why the publishers are focusing more on them to the detriment of the core gamers.

Although, I've been wondering recently if the industry nowadays is really that different than was before. The idea of "casual versus hardcore" hasn't come up until recently, but then again, there was no such thing as a hardcore gamer until games became more complicated and neglected the people who just wanted a 20 minute ...

That's the point. This whole thing about Japanese people being too biased to support a foreign product is silly, and McDonald's is proof of that. You can find a McDonald's on every street corner, and they outnumber most (if not all) Japanese food chains.

If the Japanese hated foreign products so much, they wouldn't love McD's, right?

The problem isn't nationalism, it's just brand loyalty. If someone has always bought Nintendo, why would they start buying MS? IF som...

I suggested that if he couldn't read Japanese, he look at the Wikipedia entry on demographics in Japan, which uses the Ministry of Justice figures.

Here: http://www.moj.go.jp/PRESS/...

2005 numbers, but close enough. Filipino numbers have risen drastically in the last three years, and this doesn't seem to include 2nd generation Koreans who haven't taken citizenship. Other than that, th...

Yeah, I got a source. Can you read Japanese? If not, look at th wikipedia article. Koreans 1 million, Chinese 500K, Filipinos 500K, Brazilians 250K, Everyone Else = 250K.

@king0ni

I didn't forget the USFJ, but they tend to buy stuff at the RX so they can get English manuals. My original comment included that point, but I decided it was blatantly obvious so I deleted it.

I know quite a few westerners in Japan, and none of them own a 360 or a PS3. Western immigrants are either English teachers without enough money to waste, or professionals without enough time to waste.

Anyway, there are only about 200K westerners in Japan. Even if every one of them bought a 360, it wouldn't make up the numbers sold.

First, as Spartaan said, you didn't watch the movie. Watch and and you'll see that your only complaint is baseless.

Second, your name comes from Star Trek, you claim to be a "long time gamer since the 80's" in your site profile, and you're from North America, and you don't know who Comic Book Guy is?

There's something very wrong with this picture. A geek who doesn't know Comic Book Guy is like a football player not knowing what the Orange Bowl is.

Ah. I didn't know that the 360 Arcade came with wireless internet and 40Gb of save cards.

Or did you mean something different?

6599d ago 3 agree0 disagreeView comment

Why are comparisons made between the 40Gb PS3 and the Basic 360? Shouldn't people compare the 40Gb with whichever version of the 360 comes with a hard drive and wireless?

Comic Book Guy? Is that you?

If 90% destructibility is boring, what would you consider interesting?

Maybe Army of Two is done this way in order to maintain good pings for everyone?

Edit: Whoops. I should read. I thought this was PS3 as well.

Can you say that Bioshock is a ripoff of System Shock if the same people made both?

And it's not the choice thing that makes Bioshock good - that's been in dozens of RPGs - it's the rarity of that type of story in a video game, and especially a console one.

I have to admit that I haven't played Bioshock because I don't have a 360, but I know the story, and it would be a game I'd buy if I had a 360.

Edit: That's cool. I'm sure that there are many who don...

Absolutely yes. It would have been much cooler to be given the choice to either continue or not after coming off of the nectar.

6601d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

As I said, I wasn't trying to knock the Bioshock story. It was nice to see that type of story hit gaming consoles.

In a way, COD4's single-player campaign is the same. Not the same story as Bioshock obviously, but the same in that we got this great story in which bloody everyone dies. Completely opposite the normal gung-ho, kick-ass, warhawk FPS.

They are both refreshing.

...it wasn't new in terms of literature. The themes (and "twist") in Bioshock can be seen in quite a few science fiction novels. Doesn't make Bioshock bad at all, but it isn't new.
