the correct answer is, the wiiu gets gimped ports because the console itself is gimped.
with its poor, inadequate tech, devs have no other choice but to custom-gimp their games to work on it.
a shame an international release wasnt higher on the list of priorities!

i was looking at nintendo's site a few weeks ago because i was interested in pre-ordering the double pack for beyonetta, and one thing stood out to me- they made a point of stating on the page that the double pack had a mature rating because of the content for the first game.
what does that tell you? it tells me that the second game is toned down in comparison. not only that, but nintendo feels it needs to explain why its games have mature content, instead of just letting...

i think there is a review ban on beyonetta 2 for now. but journalists probably already have review copies for both 1 and 2. so since they cant publish their review of the second game yet, they are publishing their reviews of the 1st.
as was stated by other members, this will allow the first game a time to shine, so the publisher can sell more copies of the double pack special edition when the game finally goes on sell.

the problem was always going to be that its a dynasty warriors game merely with zelda skins. that is all it is.
the review simply states this fact. it even says its the best dynasty warriors game ever made... but that isnt saying much. simply adding zelda elements doesnt make it a 10/10 timeless classic. ie, you can gloss a turd, but it will merely be a glossy turd.
i would say its one strictly for fans, whether that be zelda fans or fans of dynasty warriors....
its not uninformed- metro are not newbies, they have been doing this for a very, very long time. back when the internet didnt even exist, actually. they are from all the way back in the teletext days and are highly respected for their up-front and painfully honest reviews.
people in the know are well aware of this, others from a different generation who are used to journalists praising every major game that comes their way wont understand this thing called 'totally unbias...
xenoblade on wii was HD in all but resolution. it had the scope of a HD game, it had the detail, it had everything a 'next gen' game has... only not the high resolution.
and it didnt suffer either. i own a wii and ps3 and xenoblade impressed me far greater than almost everything i have on ps3.

i dont think nintendo are motivated purely by being different. i think they are now heavily motivated by creating hardware and software that is low cost while producing maximum profit. this is reflected by practically all their consoles the last two generations or so.
being different doesnt have to mean using old tech or releasing mini-games and party games. but this is the route nintendo has gone. its obviously not about being different, its about spending as little as they can...
