Kind of hard to compare a Nintendo and a Sony game in regards to which is "best". Like what makes Mario better than Uncharted or vice versa? Both have different target audiences and are trying to achieve different things gameplay wise.
As long as there is consensus on the quality, which one has more is the more objective way to go.

Not sure if the X will reach 1 million in that time frame though, price and on top of that lack of must have exclusive software are holding its sales potential back.
It's not guaranteed, but it has the potential to be good at least. Think about it for a sec. If a game is bad does it really matter when it's released? You'd rather have it sooner or later? Most will skip a game that is released to bad reception or at least wait until the price is cheap anyway.

You can't expect Nintendo to have like 10 million consoles at the ready. Prior to launch, Nintendo planned to ship 2 million Switch consoles for the first month and ended up exceeding that amount. This shows that Nintendo simply underestimated demand which you can't blame them for doing so, seeing as they just came off the Wii U.
