It does seem like an ambitious game and they're indie devs, so it's not surprising that it's talking a while.
We probably won't hear about it until it's very close to release. It reminds me of Rime where the devs went quiet because they wanted to temper the expectations of gamers and relieve some pressure off of themselves.

The thing about SP games is that it in most cases it has to be of high quality in order for it to sell well enough for it to be profitable. Huge marketing campaigns don't work like they used to anymore.
MP games doesn't necessarily need the raw numbers for it to be profitable so as long as they have a handful of people that are hooked to the game and spend money on DLC/MT.
