No way this is lasting 2 generations, tech moves too quickly.
Also, why would they do that when they can sell you another $500+ device with your PS6? 😊
Oof, that pricing. More than the console itself.
DOA for all but the most hardcore consumers, especially in this economy - and they've effectively doomed VR to remain niche.
Have you never heard of the term 'business deal'? Coming to an arrangement to purchase another entity is indeed a business deal.
Even the above article refers to it as a deal:
"The European Commission has a deadline of November 8 to formally announce its intention to launch a so-called Phase 2 investigation into the deal"
Reading comprehension is difficult, I know.
Yeah, it's a really hard choice. Countless great games on both platforms. PS2 had SH2 and MGS2 within the first year, but PS1 had SH1 and MGS1... and other great games like PaRappa and countless others.
For me, it's hard to choose between the PS1 and PS2, but they are my favorite PlayStation consoles to date, and I don't know if that'll ever change to be honest.
Nothing new there... the entire high-end of the games industry is built upon selling HW at a loss and making it back in transactions and subscriptions.
Compare this to GWG and it's easy to see where they invest vs where they don't...
Good collection - Monkey Island is a nice get. I'm kinda interested to see how Pentiment is too.
Pyramid Head is my #1 too, despite the fact you don't actually fight him much - and the few times you do are actually super easy. It's all in the presentation & close encounters.
Good that the chip shortage appears to be subsiding, partially at least, and just in time for a banger holiday.
It's very easy to find the console now, especially when you think back a year or so when it was being scalped everywhere and sold out on storefronts in minutes.
Not a surprise at all. With the size of this deal, it was always going to get probed by regulators around the world. Normal & expected.

Not a great quarter for PlayStation, but Sony all up did have a good quarter.
Not super surprising though either, the economic downturn will hit all tech companies a bit, even if games are somewhat resilient.
The subscriber drop is surprising though, given they launched a new service that offers more than the legacy/base...
Fair. I think I’d be up at night if I’d spend 70bn dollars on a company too lol.
@SonyStyled Where did I say that? I said in a world, e.g it hasn’t happened yet (but is coming).
The AVX2 thing has been (unofficially) patched btw, so anyone reading this need not be concerned - but googling will be required.
That being said, AVX2 has been around for nearly a decade now.
Yeah Astro deserves to be its own fully fleshed out platformer - and could easily become a PS mascot.
Also in a world where MS owns Crash and Spyro, Sony needs a strong platformer of their own.
Astro is still the best utilization of the DualSense too.
@crazy Not really. MS isn't really a HW company and are more focused on in-game content & services/subscriptions than HW. They're happy to monetize anywhere they can.
They'd probably have GamePass on PS if Sony would allow them to do so, based on past statements about Zenimax games.
COD just gets bigger and bigger. MW2 is a great experience, especially after the lackluster Vanguard.
They could, the above is exactly why they've started selling PS exclusives on PC.
But Sony are heavily invested in selling hardware, so they don't want to contribute anything to a direct HW competitor / reduce the amount of people buying their console - PC isn't a real competitor to console so that's why they do release there.
NAT shouldn't really matter for COD gameplay though since all competitive gameplay is going through a dedicated server. NAT type only really matters for direct/P2P connections (e.g. voice chat).
I'd also make sure you're wiring your console, Wi-Fi will add substantial latency.
Oh, and with cross-play off you may end up with worse ping because the vast majority of people will have cross-play enabled, so due to the smaller matchmaking pool with ...
"I guarantee you it will be a success"
Not at that price you can't. PSVR1 had low adoption and it was more sensibly priced, and launched during far better economic circumstances.
