The game was great until Microsoft bought it:

“Just a mediocre game”
“I never said the game was bad”
Mediocre == bad

But the game was great before MS bought it - what did they do? Did they release a patch making the gameplay worse?
No one “deserves” anything. If you want to play it that badly, get it on your PC or buy an Xbox.
It’s that simple.
Timed exclusive - just like almost all other third party games with exclusivity deals on Xbox and PS5, less so Switch.
“If not programming for Series S|X is going to take a lot of time and effort to get it looking right and performing acceptably.”
UE5 scales all the way down to Switch and mobile devices, I don’t think supporting Series S will be an issue.
Also from the footage they shared, it looks pretty great for a $299 box. Epics super res is pretty impressive given how clean the image looks on all platforms, while none of them were running at anywhere close to native ...
Their SSD investigation is interesting, tapering off the performance of the SSD to ~1.7gbps (slower than XSX) and UE5 runs it just the same as having a very fast (default PS5) SSD.
Crazy that they have managed to get UE5's nanite to use so little bandwidth - Epic confirmed that UE5 is not heavy on storage/streaming, and that the engine uses ~300mbps max at 30fps.
Not sure 'how long to beat' is really truly representative of the real picture or accurate.
The headline actually says: "Returnal Among The Least Finished Games of 2021 for HowLongToBeat users"
@Atticus_finch Silicon is silicon. If there's a shortage of it, there is a shortage of it.
Perhaps Switch needs less, but they are clearly still hit by the shortage.
Silicon is silicon.
"Switch is made from nearly decade old recycled phone parts"
And now you're just being overly dramatic.
Not sure how you can come to that conclusion when week to week sales, during the global supply crisis, show the Switch outselling it 2-3x.
I read it's 6-8 hours, for $25, that seems fair. There are many indie games that have scored higher than The Gunk that are shorter than that. Heck, there are plenty of $60-70 games that are only around 8-10 hours.
As for reviewers inflating scores for exclusive titles, I've never heard of that happening, but if it's the standard/everyone else is doing it then this website is right to do so too.
Why would the duration of exclusivity be factored into the review score?
A good game is good and a bad game is bad regardless of exclusivity.
Series S is $300 and PS5 DE is $400, so it’s 33% more.
And yes, you can save money buying disks, used games etc.
I said runs the same games, not runs the games the same.
"$100 is easily worth it"
Right... it is, for you and I. But you missed my point, $100 can put something out of reach for a lot of people.
Also, I know growing up, my parents would've bought me the S not a PS5 or X.
While true, it's also worth remembering $100 is a lot of money to a lot of people. That's a 33% increase in cost.
I'd imagine the demographic of Series S buyers is likely:
- People who just want to play the new games and aren't hardcore gamers who care about resolutions & framerates etc
- People buying for kids
- People wanting second consoles (e.g. bedroom console)
- Emulation boxes (for me, this is the only reason I&...
Of course it is, it includes the same hardware level features (HDMI2.1, VRS, VRR, 120Hz, RT, etc), is Zen2 + RDNA 2 based, contains GDDR6 RAM and the same SSD as it's big brother - and most importantly, runs the same games as other next-gen consoles.
If it isn't next-gen, then Xbox Series X and PS5 aren't either.
I really hope they do this justice. Give us a legitimate remake on next-gen platforms only, with great graphics and the same hardcore stealth mechanics, no GaaS/microtransactions or arcade BS like insta headshot power-ups.
Picked this up immediately - ROYP is an awesome little indie game!
If you liked games like Donut County & Untitled Goose Game, you'll love this - try it out! - it's also on GamePass.
I don’t believe the game is as good as GOW, but I just find your contradictory comments funny.
Like: “ I never said the game was bad”
A few comments above: “ In my opinion Hellblade is just a mediocre game”
“ I said that about Microsoft because they can't create and develop their own games but rather take the easy way out and buy developer's like Bethesda.”
Right, so you disagree with their approach to acquisitions - bu...
