Every game could have been left off of the list.
It’s an opinion piece, they can pick whichever games they want.
@RedDevils You certainly wouldn't qualify with that level of English... reading that was painful.
@MrNinosan Hardly the same thing as a business... people are separate entities, both in terms of will and financials - businesses owned by parent companies are not.
Money being spent on Deathloop (and sequels, dlcs, patches etc) comes from Microsoft. Sales revenue etc goes to Microsoft.
Zenimax and Bethesda are subsidiaries of Xbox Game...
@TheDoomedGuy Deathloop and Ratchet are both 88 avg, Returnal is 85. Deathloop has also won more awards.
User reception is hard to quantify, there's no legitimate/accurate source for that.
Microsoft would love for Halo’s free to play MP to be Fortnite. Fortnite is one of the biggest grossing games every year.
Yeah… next up we’ll get furry tail “utility belts”
@Crimson Sunset was released years before the acquisition, DeathLoop was released over a year after the acquisition.
@Flavor No optics here, I called out both sides above as being funny.
@Rau Yep I do, also funny that it’s one of MS’s best games of the year and isn’t on their platform. It isn’t even in PC game pass.
@anast You didn’t answer my question, in fact you dodged it entirely:
What newly released game are you playing this Holiday, and which platform?
Jesus Christ. That is all.
@sammarshall Not for those who bought at launch. I’ve finished the current exclusives (and the good third party titles) and nothing else is coming til Feb.
And Bethesda’s parent company is Zenimax, and Zenimax’s parent company is…?
Oh, right - it’s Microsoft.
@Lazarus69 That logic applies to every platform though, buy a new console this Christmas and you are guaranteed to have new (to you) games to play.
Sony had a blockbuster first 6 months, but the last months have been dry with all the activity on the Xbox side.
So by Anasts logic my PS5 and Switch are glorified Roku boxes too.
So my question stands to him - what new game should I pick up on my PS or Switch this holiday?
I still find it funny that one of the best games on PS5 this year is made by Microsoft.
And before someone points out that the deal was inked before acquisition - I know. I just find it funny.
So what new game are you playing this Christmas? And which platform?
For PS5 and Switch… the new games have been pretty AWOL since the summer.
If it’s boring then god knows what the other platforms are.
And this stat literally means… nothing. It’s only people registered on their service.
In other useless news more Xbox users use Bing.com than PS3/4/5 and more Switch users visit Nintendo.com
For an unfinished game, I had a very fun experience with the campaign.
And congrats to 343 - an unfinished game that is better than most of the games released this year.
I'd be interested in seeing the same calculation for PSNow. It would be far less than 800 games though - this calculation was the number of new games added this year, not the entire list of games in the subscription.
I'm not sure if it would be the same sum though, Xbox is adding all their $60 exclusives and some third party launch titles day 1, PSNow is not doing day 1 releases - so it may not be a fair comparison.
Sony will just have to give us ...
It could also be completely inaccurate, a lot of the time these game sizes that come from PS Store & Xbox store pre-launch are inaccurate for numerous reasons, e.g.:
- The build uploaded is likely pre-release and a lot of studios don't enable things like Kraken, other compression, de-duping of content files etc until near release candidate/final build
- Sometimes the sizes include the 'copy space' required on PS, so the game is actually 20-30gb smal...
@Jim Hawking Hit the nail on the head.
A quick two second check on the article shows they are all over $5.
