@Digiton Quick resume is only really possible on a high speed SSD with the appropriate architecture around it.
Go copy a game on your mechanical XB1 or PS4 drive… it’s not quick resume if it takes 10-20 minutes to resume lol.
He’s trying to make out like being able to run the PS4 game on a PS5 is now an advantage because DF said it’s the only way to get a smooth framerate in Elden Ring on a PS.
But what he is missing is that you shouldn’t have to run a last gen game on your next gen console to get a stable framerate… the fact you need that scenario is a failing in the developers part.
The fact remains, smart delivery is pretty great and it sure would’ve been nice to have somet...
To be honest, if it's that 'difficult', and SW updates don't improve it, I'll probably just complain to Sony and see if they will give me a replacement.
A $500 electronic bought in 2020 shouldn't require me to do some form of special vacuuming - and it doesn't bode well for the future when the HW gets older etc.
I'm not sure it's dust related since it's been doing it since day 1 when presumably there was no dust inside. It can also do it pretty 'early' in a gaming session sometimes - so I think it's more OS/FW/game instability.
I guess I can take the sides off and run the vacuum over the sides and back, but I don't really expect to have to do that with modern electronics and have never had to do it with my PS4s.
I expect a lot of Ghostwire Tokyo. The game is only a couple of weeks out and is the next big hitter for PS.
The original 'leaker' has already debunked the Konami rumor, he was talking BS:

The big hitters are finally arriving on next gen! Should've been next-gen exclusive though.
Stability improvements are definitely welcome - there are way too many hard crashes that are followed by the annoying database rebuilding flow.
I do hope we get VRR soon though. It's been a long time coming.
The original leaker already admitted he was making it up:

If Sony acquires the rights to MGS or SH, you can bet that’s getting a lot more focus than a small portion of a last minute 20m state of play.
Okay… so name me some of the changes Microsoft have done thus far at Activision?
And why are none of their games in GamePass?
I’d hold but I’ll be waiting a damn long time.
A quick two second google search confirms MS cannot do anything with Activision until regulators approve the deal - that’s why the regulatory process exists. Activisions shareholders haven’t even reviewed and approved the acquisition yet.
If/when t...
@S2Killinit I'm not sure what part of this isn't clear to you. What you are describing is not 'common', it is in fact illegal in the US and would result in the acquisition being blocked.
If Activision were already under the control of MS, their games would be in game pass already.
“ The buyer calls the shots well in advance of taking position.”
And that is exactly why that federal law exists. MS are calling nothing at Activision today.
Again, regardless of whether you think the acquisition will be approved or not - until it is approved by the regulators and shareholders - Microsoft have absolutely zero authority over Activision and its employees.
They can’t fire anyone nor announce any post acquisition plans to do so. Same reason they haven’t dumped Activision games into game pass.
That’s US federal law - Microsoft are not about to violate that.
No amount of money can hide the types of things going on at Activision.
Activision have tons of money, if they could’ve paid to close this down they would have.
They can’t - Activision is not yet owned by Microsoft - and won’t be until 2023.
Until the acquisition is closed, MS have zero say on anything Activision does and cannot fire people or change games, bring games to GamePass or anything like that.
It’s actually illegal under federal law for them to do anything “owner like” with Activision. This is called “jumping the gun”. They must continue to operate as two fully separate entities until closed.
@S2Killinit But one persons opinion also doesn’t represent the lived experience of 100k+ employees.
And it doesn’t sound like your friends complaints were anywhere close to what is going on at Activision.
Xbox is one of the best rated games companies to work at - only beat by Nintendo.
I really hope so. I would love to be wrong on this one.
I think the game will look great with enhancements like RT and would like to try them out if it’s free or $10, but I wouldn’t go in at 30-60 bucks.
The online component is free for 3 months for PS+ though so I could just check out the visuals that way I guess.
They can’t fire anyone yet - the deal has to close before they can do anything.
But yes, Bobby Kotick is on his way out once it closes. He will however get a golden parachute - legally, MS cannot avoid that.
@S2Killinit Microsoft aren’t even in Seattle. They are in Redmond which is a different, much smaller place on the other side of the lake and a good long interstate ride away from Seattle.
I’ve known many current and former MS employees over the years I’ve lived in western WA and they’ve all said it’s the best place they’ve ever worked in the industry, especially under Phil Spencer & Satya Nadella.
They’ve said things like the culture is open, inclusiv...
@Digiton Quick resume saves out the entire game memory pool, which is about 13.5GB on a Series X. That’s also why they have a hard cap on how many you can save and also reserve a lot of drive space for quick resume.
You need to save out GPU data too because only the game knows which files to load and how/from where. If you don’t save it out, the game doesn’t go through another load screen so it won’t load anything back in, and if you loaded it back in at the OS level you’d ...
