- Free nextgen upgrades
- GamePass
- $60 games
- Not forcing always online for offline modes
- Not constantly re-releasing WiiU games
- Not implementing egregious MTX and then making them even worse via patches
Its clear who the most consumer friendly of the big three is right now. Hopefully the others adapt.
Which game? There’s a lot of “wait for the elevator” boss battles in RE games 😃
It is an upgrade, and these games are already playable on current gen.
“ Each of the three titles will be updated to include ray tracing, high frame rate, and 3D audio. The PS5 versions will also utilise the DualSense controller's Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers”
The game has dual sense support as well as 3D audio, raytracing and more. So no need to shell out $10.

It has DS haptics and 3D audio - and a lot more than just a resolution bump, it even has raytracing added. And it’s still free.

Realistically I'm not expecting to see this before the 2024-25 timeframe. I do trust the Playground devs to craft something amazing though, based on their track record of producing high quality, polished games.
That seems like a reasonable forecast - assuming they keep being the more consumer friendly of the platform holders AND avoid any huge mistakes like the 2013 Xbox One launch.
I still hope they're going onto TEW3 after GW though. We definitely need a third entry!
Sounds like selective reading on your part then, nearly an hour ago:
"Yep, it's basically existed (in mass/excluding a few previous one-off instances) since the 2012-2013 timeframe when MS tried to do it for XB1 all up. MS and Sony just need to look at Valve. They are doing digital ownership and DRM correctly & fairly. This is already a solved problem."
I reference GT7 because it's the most recent (and most visible in recent times) e...
I'm hyped for these upgrades. Definitely going back to replay all 3 once they're available.
Other developers/publishers take note: This is how you do next-gen upgrades.
Yep, MS kicked this off but it didn't exactly take much to convince the others to join in, and now we're in this current state unfortunately. This isn't a case of Sony vs MS vs Nintendo, this is consumers VS all 3 (and the big publishers).
"Would you also like to talk about the original xbone plans "
If you read a few comments above, I already commented on this. I've also said numerous times before on N4G that the 2013 plans for ...
We barely even have ownership today on physical products. Take GT7 as an example, yes, we own a physical disk - but that disk is essentially useless without internet OR when the servers are down OR when Sony shuts the servers down eventually.
We own a disk and the license/ability to play a game under certain circumstances which are defined & controlled by the publisher, that's not true ownership. We've been losing true ownership slowly but surely since the PS360...
@mandf 99% of the singleplayer game modes are unavailable when offline / the servers are down. So yes, it's always online. Barely indistinguishable from a cloud game.

The future is already here, let me introduce you to a little game called Gran Turismo 7 😁
The changes are good but not great. Still more work to do here for sure (and with the always online requirement).
But this is also why we're right to criticize them, people say we're being unfair criticizing them for the MTX and always online - but the reality is, if we don't criticize situations like this when they occur, they will become the standard going forward.
Interesting. Those Kojima rumors are starting to look more and more legit.

It's just a shame she didn't bring the Portal IP with her... Valve needs to do something properly with it already.
A subscription service no later than a week after they milked everyone for ANOTHER copy of the game for the 3rd generation... Nice. Stay classy Rockstar!
@QSPR The links are in stock and are at MSRP.
"What does that even mean?"
It means that Xbox (like most companies) have a better workplace environment and culture than Activision, and they should take steps to impose similar culture at Activision.
"Microsoft would have to either fire a bunch of management [and get sued]"
This is not true, employment in CA (where ATVI are) and WA (where MS are) is at-will. As long as they are not discriminating against an individ...
Free next gen upgrades: Xbox have released next gen upgrades. Cross gen games can still have next gen upgrades (see: HFW, GT7, Halo, Forza Horizon 5).
MTX: Halo is cosmetic, FS is typically by third parties. Cars are kinda fundamental to racing games but Polyphony felt the need to charge 10x what they did in GT Sport for cars 🤷 indefensible. Same with their always online (which you chose to ignore).
“ they just released a next gen console and reli...
