Huh? Microsoft didn’t cause the chip shortage.
Also I am a 100% Xbox fanatic with my multiple PS4 and PS5s and no recent Xbox /s
I don’t know. I think they’ll extend the cross gen period.
Still lots of shortages going on, and if the rumors about MS paying for chip priority are true, they’re going to get worse before they get better.
The market is also too big to ignore, you’re talking about 100m+ audience vs under 20m - by EOY I expect it to be at 20-25m though - but still peanuts compared to PS4.
More like Mario than Kirby, no?
I think they should make this into a proper platformer series though.
The bundle in sample game was good but short. A full out game would compete with the likes of Crash and Mario, and with Crash soon belonging to Xbox and Mario belonging to Nintendo, PS needs a platformer icon & game.
Let’s hope they do this instead of the rumored Knack 3 😋
Still sounds like paranoia on your part. The only thing that can even be considered as negative or offensive in the above comment would be offensive to whoever develops Unpacking.
If you choose to see things that aren’t there, that’s your problem not mine.
@Chevalier You have this weird fantasy going on that because I work in the industry, I have to think everything the industry does is great. This is far from the truth, lots of things this industry does sucks, and I call them out, including my own employer.
But regardless of that, my post here contains no negatives, well you could perhaps say it’s offensive to whoever develops Unpacking, since I’m expressing surprise that people would think a game about unpacking boxes is be...
PS+ Premium is effectively DOA in terms of attracting new users.
No day 1 exclusives, no proper back compat story, and it doesn't differentiate enough from PSNow. If you were interested in paying more to get access to these titles, you're probably already subbed to PSNow.
I don't expect we'll see a huge uptick in the number of subs in the premium tiers versus what we see today on PSNow - but I also don't expect that Sony will share per...
@blackblades It's also on sale right now with $20 off via the PS Store (Digital), can also buy even if you don't have a PS5 yet via web store/app.
@CaptainHenry Costs far less to make a remake than an entirely new game. The story, plot, characters, locations, general narrative etc. are already all written out. Sure, you may make some changes, but nothing close to starting from scratch.
It will be in the Extra & Premium tiers of the new PS+ when that rolls out.
@mkis007 Exactly. Look at what happened with Alan Wake.
Sounds like paranoia on your part - there's absolutely nothing negative in what I said.
I disagree. The games are pretty dated now, and only really available on back compat. We're talking about a remake after ~20 years.
Some companies are doing remasters & remakes of games that aren't even 5 years old.
I just hope it's a quality product unlike the GTA trilogy - but I do trust Remedy to deliver.
Congrats to HM. It's interesting to see the difference between panelists and the public though.
Best Game - Voted by panelists - Returnal
GOTY - Voted by the public - Unpacking
Such different games.
Your comment makes no sense. Xbox Live is a ghost town with ~50 mil paid subscribers and over 100mil active unique users? That’s very similar to PS+
Nothing but an attempt at a narrative spin. Comparing two different types of service.
The reality is, if you're comparing equivalent services:
- XBL Gold and PS+ are similar
- GamePass is completely destroying PSNow (25m v 3m), and that 25m was hit in half the time....
GamePass is destroying its direct competitor.
Imagine a full remake... Shadow Moses on a modern console... 👌
Heck, even the MGS4 iteration of SM was awesome, I can't imagine how good it would look on a current gen console.
MGS is just missing in general. Thanks Konami.
It's an attempt to make the numbers look better.

"Ford says Ford cars are good"
In all seriousness though, I have high hopes for this game.
Sales breakdowns can be hard to judge though, some sources don’t report digital for example.
But I think it’s really going to come down to the chips. If you can walk into most retail stores and buy a PS5 with ease/zero effort in major markets - we’ll start seeing crossgen fade away - especially for first party / exclusives since the platform holders have a vested interest in moving people off the old platforms.
