That’s pure speculation on your part though.
I’m sure the finance folk at Microsoft know what they can and cannot afford to do.
Right now there is zero indication or reason to believe there will be a price hike. The only people hiking prices around here is Sony.
Microsoft are never removing first party day one releases from GP. The backlash would be immense and they know it’s a huge selling point.
Also, subscribers are more valuable than retail sales nowadays to big corps, and even if you get game pass via Microsoft Rewards, you are feeding revenue into their ecosystem via other means. If you think Microsoft are just giving you rewards points and game pass for free, you’re being silly - there’s a reason why they’re a multi trillion...
So now game pass is just a promotional push? 5 years is a pretty long promo period.
The article is right though - Spartacus does differ in a key way - it offers substantially less value and is so half baked we can’t even seriously call it a competitor to game pass. At best it is a competitor to Switch online.
Nope, a lot of the men in this industry have no ethics.
E3 2022 is going to be lit.
They shouldn't worry. This is common behavior for Bethesda.
Fallout 4 and Skyrim didn't get gameplay until 5-6 months before release.
Sadly this is extremely common in this male dominated industry.
As I write this, Sony and Ubisoft are also being sued for similar behavior - and it's probably occurring at countless more companies and not being reported.
But the facts don't back that up...
- FH5 was the highest scoring first party game for 2021
- MS was the publisher of the year
- Of the big 3, only Microsoft appear in the top 10 games for 2021 on Metacritic. Sony doesn't appear until #29
There is nothing sad about us consumers getting a better deal.
Can’t say I’m surprised given how little we’ve seen and heard. So a GOTY candidate bites the dust - now it’s between Elden Ring and Starfield.
Hard to agree with his statement when MS ended up the highest scoring publisher for 2021 and no Sony games are in the top 10 metacritic for 2021 yet the highest scoring MS games were in GamePass day 1.
This is clearly more down to the fact that they like selling us $70 games.
We wanted a GamePass competitor - that is not what we got. We got a simple merging of two existing services, no day 1 titles and back compat via streaming & locked behind a paywall.
SMH. Give us back the old Sony that was for the players. Ryan only cares about the bottom line.
This has since been confirmed as a mistake:

Yeah, unfortunately everyone's 'root cause' can be different. Another thing you could do is make sure you're playing at 60fps, but that may require you to play on PC or select certain visual modes etc.
I do hope you find a solution that works for you, because they are two great games.
I had it with 7, I turned off head bobbing and that fixed it - I then played through Village with that option set since the start, so not sure if it recurred with Village.
And we all thought Elden Ring or Starfield would be GOTY... but here's the sleeper GOTY!
Tens of millions of PS gamers would disagree with you, myself included, and COD is typically one of the better games of the year, every year.
If it was jank people wouldn’t be begging for the games to stay cross-plat…
Nor would they be begging the federal government to block it…
What? These are Capcom games not Square.
They are also free, so how so that greedy?
As for millions lining up to play… these games all sold millions of units… some of them over ten million… so yes, millions lined up to play.
Yeah, today you can share your sub with other accounts on your console. A family plan would be more like Spotify where X number of people can play simultaneously on different devices for one fee.
