Supposedly, that's the best RPG out right now. But I can't tell you from personal experience because I passed on that game due to lack of time... (I am ashamed)
I have to agree 100%. I bought a Slim to send to my little bro as a wedding present, but I opened the box and downloaded a bunch of games to his PS3 before sending it off... and that's EXACTLY what I thought.
The pictures really make the Slim look like a cheap knock-off. In person, that machine looks SWEET. I was almost tempted to sell one of my PS3s for one. ;)
Anyone who's still hesitating... don't. Just go and get it. You'll be thoroughly satisfied.
If you think I'm asking for XChat only because XBLive has it, then that says more about your gaming experience than anything else.
Cross-application VoIP chatting is one of the most useful communication/match-making tools available for people who want to play games together (i.e. people like me, who happen to have RL friends that game together; and plenty of them).
PC gaming has had this for nearly ten years now, and this is one of the reasons why many MMORPGs are ab...
First of all, I recently made my THIRD PS3 purchase (the Slim, of course). This time as a wedding present for my little brother. So, I want you all to know that I'm not a Sony hater and/or XBot.
But I have to agree that the delays of essential features like XGame Chat, and silly shove-it-down marketing tricks they're pulling with these updates are starting to get on my nerves bigtime (Like that PSN Store icon under EVERY category).
Yes, the PS3 has been playing cat...
Didn't realize you never actually used one... sorry I should have described it a little better.
I don't know if you ever used a VoIP client on the PC (Ventrillo? RogerWilco?), but the way it works is... you open a voice chat ROOM that people (your friends)can join. It is like a conference channel that anyone can speak in, so if 3-4 of your friends all wanted to get together and play the same game, you can begin communicating with each other EVEN BEFORE you're in the same game. ...
"Social Networking Feature", eh?
I think you're missing the point of XGame Chat.
There has to be an easier way for people to play with each other. But as it is right now, it is much too difficult to join a game with your friend(s), because the means to communicate are extremely limited UNLESS you are already in the same game (or squad).

AL QAEDA ZOMBIES WOULD RUUULLE!!!!
Yes? Yes? Hit agree/disagree with your votes!!
Or... better yet, REPUBLICAN ZOMBIES!!!
Whooohoooo~!!!
Which games are we talking about here? Are you saying these are more expensive than their retail counterparts? (new, and not used)
Sorry if I'm missing something here, but I actually found these prices to be pretty reasonable. $19.99 for Mass Effect? Dude, that's a good deal, no?
Had a great analogy:
"But we've seen this in many other industries...especially the clothing industry. A clothing line builds its brand and is then able to sell their products at sky-high prices. They will remain to do so until consumers decide that they aren't willing to pay for it. There are cheaper alternatives out there but rarely do these cheaper alternatives put pressure on the big name brands as they will always have their own audience."
I thought th...
What happens when intellectual properties are over-priced? They fuel piracy.
They can raise the price all they want, but "gamers" will play the games either way. Those gamers who HAVE the money, and feel that they can afford it will buy the games to play them. Those who don't... will resort to piracy.
Happens with every art-form.
No exception.
"By your logic, if eveything should be allowed and nothing should be censored, if someone released a game that involved molesting and abusing kids you'd be cool with that? You'd justify that it should be allowed to be on sale to the general public?"
This is a great question. In fact, I ask myself this same question when trying to find "the line". My answer is as follows:
It should not be a crime to create FICTIONAL material, period. Please note...
Interesting point... yes, I have to agree with you on that as well. I do believe it's wrong to glorify crimes, be it rape or murder (or theft, jaywalking or speeding (Need for Speed!), etc).
However, I think one of the misunderstanding/misinformatio n that skews the debate is the (incorrect) impression that these games are intended to "glorify" these acts. I *have* played these types of games in the past, out of sheer curiosity (and I was much younger and "hot&qu...
If people like you ruled the world, then we'd be missing out on masterpieces like "Dexter" and "Natural Born Killers".
Neither show/movie motivated me to go out killing people.
"I would love to live in a world without fat people, but you don't see me burning down any MacDonalds."
Can I steal this idea for a future game design?
This is pure genius, and I'm sure it'll get at least 1 million pre-orders.
Don't believe me?
Countries with tighter censorship regulations tend to have higher rates of rape than those with more liberal censorship rules. Google it.
And I take that as proof that, in the absence of a venue to "vent" one's fantasies, people will choose to play it out in real life and actually commit that "fantasy" to people.
The argument that censorship will somehow prevent these crimes from being committed in real life is FLAW...
First off, I hope noone really thought that a Wii version would have been as good as the "proper" versions.
Secondly, and more importantly, I don't think anyone is really questioning IW's ability to make a good game on the Wii. The issue is with LIMITED RESOURCES. Simply put, IW (not Activision) cannot afford to just make a third (albeit inferior) version at the drop of a dime. They're comfortable with doing the best job they can with the two "state-of-the-art&q...
The KZ2/MGS4 bundle did not make sense to me at all. Yes, it is THE BEST bundle for gamers like us... but people like us ALREADY OWN the damn thing, so what's the point?
Sony needed to offer something to appease people UNLIKE us. And these people would never have cared about MGS4 or KZ2 anyway. The LBP/Wall-E bundle was THE BEST thing they could have come up with, and I commend Sony for doing SOMETHING right for once.
Now they just need the damn $299 SKU...
@ Socomnick: I can understand why you'd claim that MAG is a crappy game (it has some signs that it might lack polish, and Zipper doesn't have a good track record for smooth launches). But regardless of how the game actually is, what you said is flamebait.
@ HHG: I used to like your straight-up style, but you've let your elevated profile get to your head. Cool it off already. And spend more time meeting ppl OUTSIDE of tradeshows, and when they're NOT trying to sell you their games...

I'm one of those who felt very offended by the new shove-it-down-the-throat PSN advertising tactic. Here are my reasons:
1) I actually spent money to download that dynamic LBP theme ($2.99), and when I boot up my PS3, I don't want it starting up on some ugly-ass teal-colored advertising screen.
2) Sony has had its head stuck up with marketing ass for almost three years now. First it was HOME (just a huge marketing vehicle for Sony's affiliates), then it was the VID...
