I actually made a similar comment a while back about how it's not Microsoft or the Xbox brand that I don't like. It's not even the fanboys that I don't "like"...I don't hate them...I'm just oh so very CONFUSED by them.
I mean, this entire generation MS has basically given us lies, deception, same long in the tooth IP's, weaker hardware in the beginning...I mean...I know that if I were a MS fanboy I certainly wouldn't be at this poin...
The Pro is massively under-delivering how exactly? Under-delivering as in costed $100 less AT LAUNCH and came out a YEAR ago? Yeah, really under-delivering console there. How dare Sony be the first to make and market a mid-gen console upgrade that makes their incredible better looking AAA exclusives look that much better.
Look at MS all trying to play catch up all generation long. You want to talk about a company under-delivering...that's ALL THEY'VE DONE THIS WHOLE...
"it wouldn't make the 100% real world performance increase any more or less significant."
I call these into question anyways. The PS4 Pro isn't THAT much weaker hardware wise yet all the cross platform games on the X1X have higher resolution AND higher frame rate AND higher graphics settings. Considering the hardware itself this doesn't really make a LOT of sense. It's almost like MS is paying companies to make the X1 look better than it is.
What's "blood" magic? You mean "black" magic?
Also, again, no it isn't. It's more expensive AND is a year later.
I'm sure if Sony released the PS4 Pro a year later and $100 more it would also have better hardware...you see...that's how this works.
Yeah, I think Sony went a little quick but ultimately I understand both sides.
Sony was on the track of "people really love the remasters in higher resolutions so imagine our current 1st party AAA's in higher resolutions and textures!". This ultimately lead to the the releasing the PS4 Pro earlier because the hardware was there so games were "that much" better but it was still affordable.
Microsofts approach with the Xbox One X is...
OK, so a console that launched for $100 less a year ago doesn't perform as well.
It's not like the PS4 Pro somehow looks like crap now because of it.
So, yeah, the Xbox One X is hella fast and runs multi-platform games at higher resolutions and settings and frame rates and has 4K Blu-ray. It's a really nice console. Doesn't change the fact that it's a year later and a $100 more than the PS4 Pro. You people speak about it like it's...
This is what I've always said. People acting like a game that's not hard to run already being ported means we're in for a flood of ports.
Now, DOOM graphically isn't demanding nor is it CPU demanding. That's why it does 1080p and 60fps on the X1 and PS4. Try to put a game like Assassin's Creed Origins and tell me how it does then with it's dual core 1GHz SoC CPU.
@thisismyaccount
Sure, the PS has repeating exclusive franchises, they all do. Damn, Nintendo has been carrying a few for decades now.
The difference is that Playstations exclusives are consistently top notch. They also have a ton of returning exclusives PLUS (and this is where they differ from Xbox) NEW exclusives. You know, franchises and games that aren't based on something previous.
So, while you try and use a fantastic game ser...
It's like the Star Citizen of mods.
Every time I see it I keep getting more impressed but it never wants to actually come out.
Plus, I always felt like it was a LOT of work for such a game. Appreciated, for sure, but ultimately...why? :-p
Looking forward to it!
Eh, it really isn't though...that is if the scene is even bright enough to see. Even The New Order had larger grander levels and much better design and art approach. The character models looked better in the first, the levels are way more memorable...remember the Moon or Bridge levels? Come on, this game came no where near it.
And that's just comparing this game to it's predecessor...not even other definitely better looking games.
Again, the ...
Seems tainted to me. Wolfenstein 2, let's be freakin honest here, isn't some graphics powerhouse. Even on my PC performance is all over the place for a game that, arguably, looks no better than it's predecessors from years past.
When I see stuff like this the performance to hardware ratio just doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. The X1X is .2Ghz faster per core on the CPU and 1.8Tflops faster on the GPU side all while it adding up to a much higher resolutio...
Makes me wonder why this doesn't come to Nvidia Shield devices. Same hardware (if not much faster) in a lot of their products.
If the hardware could only do 720p though those with Shield TV's on 4K displays might be disappointed. Oh well, good show of form and optimization. Downgrades were certainly had but nothing TOO dramatic considering the Switch's hardware and portability.
Crackdown? Are you kidding? Why are you people even TRYING to use that game as some "example" of a "good" exclusive coming to the Xbox? We already know it's probably going to be a pretty poor game over all and the whole Cloud Power™ part of it seems way dumbed down...if it'll happen at all.
Sea of Thieves looks alright, but even then it's no Last of Us 2.
And those are just two examples you can come up with.
@Septic
You have no room to make any comment about "negativity". Stop.
@shaggy2303
This is true of any console manufacturer here on this site. Go into a Nintendo article and there's a bunch of negative comments and a bunch of defenders. Same with Sony or Microsoft articles.
This site doesn't sway one way or the other as a whole...it's per article.
"but the question is cant they better spend the money elsewhere?"
That's what I've been asking of MS this entire generation. Let's cancel games because of budgets but let's go buy a franchise for 2 BILLION DOLLARS and spend money on new hardware for the games they don't really have.
A lot of these lately have been. Went from the dev's being there and us seeing some crazy unexpected stuff to basically just being another way to interview celeb's all while poorly advertising some game in the background.
Seriously, go watch the last one with AC:Origins...it's painful to watch and not even fun or funny.
@jobboy
So why is the X1X so expensive?
And, I'm sorry, but all this BS with the X1X having better textures due to VRAM amount is bull crap. I was running 4K textures in Skyrim back on a 2GB GPU years ago.
8GB for the PS4 Pro is PLENTY...dev's just don't optimize like they use too. Textures are NOT that "taxing" on hardware, it's more about available RAM than it is GPU power. Really no reason why the X1X and PS...
This makes no sense. Why would I not want to enjoy the PS4 exclusives on the Pro in higher resolution/detail? Why is the OG Xbox One the one that's not worth it to upgrade from?
I'd rather have the better and prettier exclusives on the machine that runs them fastest (PS4 Pro) then the X1 that plays multiplats a little better than the PS4 Pro but doesn't have NEAR the library of quality AAA games.
Prettier graphics with less games I care to pla...
Amazon doesn't magically just create new limited edition Xbox One X's. This is Microsoft's doing as they're the ones that restocked Amazon.
I think honestly, the lack of good controls is what killed it. The missing (not to mention analog) L2 and R2 buttons and the sticks L3 and R3 buttons hurts it with porting PS3 games to it as well as doing PS4 Remote Play.
I really think Sony just needs to update the Vita. Better controls, the hardware these days is beast for the size, (could easily be Switch+ level performance), and the games are there for a device like it.
