Well textures are lower on the Switch and the depth of field looks different but that's about all I can tell from the picture. The texture thing is a given though...the rest is a mystery!
Hard to say. I think the hardware will be a limit in a couple years time when the X1X and PS5 are really pumping out some high-end asset games. Who know's really? I do know that it's doing better than the Wii U and certainly seems a hell of a lot more popular so I'm sure it's not going anywhere for a while.
Now I could see Nintendo possibly coming out with a Switch+ or Switch U (lol) with faster and better specs. Sort of like the 3DS and New 3DS...but I gue...
Maybe it's just me, but there's a certainly flatness/blandness to the design and graphics that makes this look like a mobile game. Eden's done good work in the past, loved Test Drive Unlimited, but there's a certain low quality feel to this that I just can't shake.
Eh, we'll see how it goes when it's released.
Oh this will finally make for an interesting Digital Foundry comparison. While I have no doubt or problem with the hardware running the games I know that some pretty drastic changes have to be made. Things like ambient occlusion, shadow and texture resolution, resolution and frame rate...will be fun to see!
Also glad to see this stuff coming to a portable. While Nvidia Streaming and a DS4 with phone clip does the same for me on the go it's cool to know that you could pl...
"Several details"...it's a freakin' matte screen protector.
Just because it's for the Switch doesn't make a screen protector special or need it's own goddamn article or post on N4G.
Never finished this one. Really enjoyed it but then I found out what happens in the end accidentally on Steam through someones screen shot and it just sort of ruined it for me :-/
Will definitely be playing it again though, especially with the upgrades and VR. Certainly a technical marvel.
All the articles for this game have "horrifying" or "terrifying" in their title. The first one was far from scary in nearly any sense so what's with everyone thinking this one is going to be some horror masterpiece?
I swear, the more I see for this game the more I think people don't really like the first as much as they say they do but can't act like it now since it's too late.
@sk8ofmnd
Nah, it's not that these types of games aren't for me...it's just I don't think this was the great example people think it is. And I've played an hour or so but watched more on some Let's Play videos and I see a game with a lot of great ideas but poor execution and pacing. Plus I had issues with the controls and sluggish/nonresponsive animations and what not. Was more a technical issue than the actual game at first.
Also ...
What did it do though? I played the first for a bit and saw nothing outside of the ordinary with games like these. I'm seriously interested as I remember a TON of people losing their shit over this game and I'm sitting here like what's the big deal?
Tried playing the first. Only made it like an hour because it felt...weird. The game played and felt like some slow Japanese third person exploration game (if this makes sense) but with guns and bad "horror".
Yeah, I didn't really get the big deal with the first one. The game play alone had me stop playing after an hour and the content and story and characters/enemies did very little to make me care.
Very weird how some games just don't ...
I don't understand why it's OK for Bethesda to try and monetize on this anyways. They made the game that people paid for and the mods come after from fans with no help from Bethesda after the initial purchase. They are LITERALLY making this ONLY to make money and try to monetize the mod scene.
It would be like Ford selling you a car and then they decide that they're going to make a service where your aftermarket parts now have to be bought through them and they ...
They've BEEN greedy since it came out.
GTA Online was created specifically with the thought of making money.
Oh spare me. I've been reading and hearing about AI that "live their own lives" since the PS2 era and none of them really did anything. Shenmue MAYBE sort of seemed to come close but other than that these people in all these games wonder around aimlessly looking like what they are...brain dead scripted bots walking around.
And I know this is true because why spend time making intelligent NPC's all over the place if it has no purpose?
Oh great, here comes a bunch of comments by people who don't own VR about how much VR sucks and how dead it is and how it's just a fad. Calling it before it happens!
Anyways, I see VR as the future. While I don't think it'll take over 2D screens, at least not for a long while, it's definitely amazing and the tech will only get better and cheaper. Look at cellphones 5 years ago...
I know that since getting my Oculus a few months ago I s...
No, I just don't get why they lie so much and why their fans put up with it and don't seem to care.
It's not hate, it's just pointing out stuff MS has done to screw themselves this generation.
No one is surprised. We're just all surprised the Xbox fans bit into the lies and that MS touted the X1X as being this revolutionary device that will be this leap. It isn't.
Every single person I know that downplays or talks crap about VR has either:
A. Never used it.
or
B. Used it for 10 minutes at a Best Buy using first-gen tech demo's.
Yep, that's enough to base an opinion as fact that VR is dead/dying.
Everyone I know that actually OWNS VR freakin loves it! Myself included...even after owning my Rift for 3 months now I still play an hour or two nearly ever...
So much for true 4K.
With all the over exaggerated talking MS does on the One X and all the trash they talk about Sony I think 4K should have been mandatory. Not 60FPS, mind you, but at least 4K. Don't say crap about the PS4 Pro not doing "true 4K" while your console is doing the same thing.
Because, now, we just have 4K to add on top of all the other bullcrap spouted by MS this entire generation.
First it was the amazin...
True but the games would still be limited by the original hardware which still means less third party AAA games and the like. Unless Nintendo says screw it and allows games to be only for the latest revision.
