He retired, remember? Oops...SPOILERS!!!
This also goes back to how much power retailers have over console makers. Cheaper digital prices would anger retailers and they would stop carrying those consoles.
It's a slippery slope for consoles. Good thing Steam has shown a working blueprint.
You could say that because EA rushed DICE to beat CoD to the market, DICE was unable to optimize the game code and iron out all the bugs.
@zeal0us: Except Bf4 is a pretty good game covered in doo doo. Aliens: Colonial Marines is just doo doo.
I am a Battlefield fanboy and, while Bf3 had most of it's problems ironed out after multiple patches, I still blame EA for damaging the Battlefield brand.
There are people who say DICE should have pushed EA to give them more time, but EA signs the checks and DICE is most likely contractually obligated to do what they say.
Look at what happened with Infinity Ward and CoD. The developers wanted to branch out and do something different, and what happened? ...
While I do believe supporting studios can be a viable source of income for states, blindly throwing money at game developers and hoping they make a profitable game is bad business.
I don't think lawmakers and the decision makers should be hardcore gamers. But they should have an understanding of the business model and the risks and benefits that come with it.
DICE isn't working on BC3. Visceral is.
@ItachiUchiha: Not disparaging MAG, but you can't compare MAG to Bf4.
1. Less vehicles
2. Much less destruction
3. No bullet physics
4. Mediocre graphics
Bf4 was a rushed product, but MAG can't hold a candle compared to it.
Whatever the next Battlefield game is, I still think we'll see it in 2 years. But I think EA has learned it's lesson in trying to ship their game before CoD comes out.
...at least I hope they have learned.
Bad for gaming, bad for the people who worked at 38 Studios and bad for the taxpayers of Rhode Island.
I wonder if it was DICE staging a little mini-revolt so they could get the game fixed.
DICE rep to EA suit: "See. This is what happens when you have us rush our game to beat CoD to the market."
EA suit to DICE rep: "But look at all the money we've already made."
DICE to EA: "You're damaging the Battlefield brand."
EA to DICE: "We've sold a ton of copies of Bf4 and premium. What...
If only both sides could enjoy their platform of choice without demeaning the other side.
About the comment of Xbox One's being sold out? It's PR speak. Are there stores around the world where the Xbox One is sold out? Yes. Is it sold out everywhere? No. But the people up top will only say things to show their product in a positive light.
Does anyone remember this quote from 2007?
"If you can find a PS3 anywhere in North Ame...
Yes, I agree.
Nintendo still has a lot of money in the bank and, unlike Sony and Microsoft, they don't have other divisions dictating/affecting the company bottom line.
But, Nintendo has to realize that they have to innovate and come hard or that money isn't going to last.
Clem be with Lee?
It's still possible. Awkward, but possible.
Plus, to be fair, he did say it was only a bit.
It wasn't like he said, "Oh my Gawdzzz Sony! WTF!!!!"
I am not talking about myself. I'm talking about the legion of Half-Life fans who gobble up any coded message or vague bit of info that comes out of Valve.
Actually, the headline should read: " Pres X, X, X, X, X, X, X, X, X, X, X, X, X, X, X, X, X, X, X to murder.
Thomaticus: Yes, I am a Battlefield fan as well, and the problems are well documented. But, apparently saying anything that puts the ps4 in a bad light will get me a ton of disagrees. :)
It's been so long. No matter what the quality of the game is, I don't know if it can fill 9+ years of hype and waiting.
@SilentNegotiator: Nope. I was talking about the movies. You're safe.
