Although I don't see the point in media playback. They use cartridges, and most people have a blu-ray player they use, most gamers already own a XB1 or PS4. Seems like a worthless addition to me.

Just what I needed! Cram last-gen graphics into a tablet I can't even carry with me on errands, to work, to school with. Awesome. I can bring it to parties and be the lame guy waving my hands around at a 6 inch screen at, or handing half-sized controllers to people so I can make them feel like midgets while they squint at a screen playing motion games!

Exactly. I could deal with Mario having pixar level graphics. Donkey Kong having more level of detail, Zelda with near-Witcher level graphics, SSMB on par with Tekken(but looking even more awesome because it's art style would be perfect). I could see all of this in a regular console with a cheaper price. I see a half-assed console with Switch.
As a Nintendo fan, I'm begging them to fail. They need to go third party. It's best for the future of gaming. Sad thing is, even if Switch fails, they have enough money for another console.
I haven't seen anyone complain about the idea of Nintendo making a home console, infact, overwhelmingly the gaming community supports that idea. We're done with the gimmicks. I definitely want to play Super Mario Odyssey but the graphics are really disappointing. The aliasing is through the roof on that game and texture detail isn't much greater. I would have definitely bought the Switch if it were a stationary console. At $250 a stationary console would have 3-4x the power. 3-4x more power, and $50 cheaper. I just can't buy Super Mario Odyssey knowing it could have been better for cheaper. The aliasing is plain ugly on that game.
Just another PS4/Xbox? This isn't even mainly about 3rd party games...(it's about that too, but more importantly...) It's about their own games. They're strangling their own devs with weak hardware and a higher price. The portability is mostly a gimmick.

Agreed. The colors look better on Wii U, and lack of fog and unneeded lighting makes things appear sharper.
It has nothing to do with price for me. It has to do with graphics. Mario Odyssey has impressive aliasing issues, BoTW looks terrible. I'm not paying $299 for outdated graphics.
It just so happens that a cheaper stationary console would have 3-5x the graphics, and nobody's using this handheld's laughable portability features. Should have been stationary...
