I'm expecting FFVIIR at PSX, simply because KH3 will likely take center stage.
I'm ready personally. Waiting an extra year isn't going to give us much more power, if any at all. 7nm is 2019 and 7nm+ is 2020. We likely won't even get the + version as it'll likely have negligible gains.
That said, GDDR6 I've read is only 20% more expensive than GDDR5, but not a single card has it yet.
Maybe waiting the extra year will allow Sony to get their hands on it, as well as a slight increase in power...
The game is certainly amazing. I just wish more people we're playing it. Great graphics, good balance, buttery smooth. I'd love to see the 3v3 element carried to PS5 in future iterationa, as well as us getting a more defined story mode.
Geez, PS2 did so well and they released sequel consoles anyway.
If anything, there's more incentive to release it in 2019 because of the similar architecture, they can essentially get some late PS4 games running on PS5 with 4K60 modes.
Secondly, 9 years for a generation? TF? Sony said 7 years was too long and by 2019 it'll have been 6 years.
Basically this. We might not get a custom 7nm chip ready in time, GDDR6 might be scarce as well even if it's only 20% more expensive than GDDR5.
But if it's ready, I can see it launching in 2019 easy. In fact, because of the similar architecture, I can already see them producing PS5 settings for late PS4 games, especially if dev kits are out in the wild. Not only do we have a precedent for great previous gen games launching in the same year as a nex gen system, w...
16 TFLOPS is looking at a $599 console or more. It ain't happening. Even 12 TFLOPS is a high bet.
I'm guessing 10-11 TFLOPS, 16 GB GDDR6, 2TB HDD at $499.
I'm not thinking backwards and forwards compatibility, I'm thinking backwards and a few cross-gen games that they choose. Forwards compatibility makes no sense, why would they constantly downgrade games and put resources to games that aren't part of the generation? The model is to get people interested in a new console while not leaving them out not playing games they like for a few years. If forwards compatibility is implemented:

Bring it to PS5 you mean?
D R A K E N G A R D
Do it with everything they learned from Scalebound and NieR.
Speculation? 50 TFLOPS? We might not even have that with PS6.
This should be marked as lame. I want to fake Tidus laugh at this because we need a sign of endearment for anyone who believes this is true, they're going to be let down tremendously.

7nm node isn't even out. There's no way they're even thinking about upgrading yet because it would essentially be an Xbox One X.
Uhh, no Stella vs Noctis means the game is never complete.
Am I the only one that thinks the blurryness of Xbox One actually makes the scene with this? And I don't mean the X.
Everything looks so sharp you can easily see the imperfections, it's as if the game wasn't designed for a higher spec system, but to look blurry and muddied out on the base console versions. Textures look more plastic on the higher specced system and more natural on the lower ones by far.
The only thing that bothers me about a $300 SKU in 2019, is that's basically a little more powerful than PS4-Pro with some extra RAM. It's so close to last-gen it almost feels redundant to make that console.
$499 is my kind of power jump. That way once we drop down to 7nm we can get a decent enough improvement. I also want to see 12-16GB GDDR6 along with 4GB DDR3 for system functions so all of the gaming RAM goes towards gaming.
It won't be everything, but it will be a decent enough generational jump if they can increase the price by $100.
How in the hell do I get a downvote on this comment? Everything I've said is objective, we're not getting a jump past 10 TFLOPS without increasing the price. Our last jump from 28nm to 14nm doubled the power at the same price. Jumping from 14nm to 7nm means doubling again, that's exactly how the numbers work out and exactly what Digital Foundry has come up with.
So at $399 you'd get 9TFLOPS with NO extra RAM or a bigger HDD
At $499 you'd get ...
On Playstation you get:
-Final Fantasy VII Remake
-Shenmue III
-Spiderman
-The Last of Us II
-Uncharted
-Days Gone
-Horizon
-Ghost of Tsushima
-God of War
-Detroit
-Ni no Kuni II
-Gran Turismo Sport
-GranBlue Fantasy
or on Xbox you can get
-Halo
-Forza
-Gears
Which we've been playing for over a decad...
-$499 Console. There is no way they're getting a nex-gen jump without it. Going by node reductions we'd be hovering at 12 TFLOPS for $499 BEFORE even adding extra RAM or a higher HDD which could easily bump a 12 TFLOPS console to $549 or higher. So really 10-11 TFLOPS would be expected at $499, and I'm willing to pay for it and not get stuck with 8-9 TFLOPS and less RAM at $399.
What I want:
-Better subtitle support, Plex has to burn in some subtitles when streaming from my computer
-Smooth UI with some eye candy. I don't want to spend a few minutes trying to load up apps or the store. If they went with 16GB GDDR6 and added 4GB DDR3 for system functions that would mean all 16GB could go to gaming, which would be a nex-gen kind of jump. A good idea for the OS is the Material PS design someone came out with: 2879d ago 5 agree6 disagreeView comment
Eh, Xbox can't build a studio or nurture an IP. Lionshead, Mistwalker, and Platinum all had new or continuing IPs that got cancelled. Let's be honest, if Scalebound didn't look like the MC was comprised of Mountain Dew, Doritos, Vaping, and Dubstep it could have been the next Drakengard for instance. That was something worth investing in big-time, if MS would have just changed a few parameters- EVEN if it went to X2 it could have been an awesome game.
