Untrue though. If we go by the 7nm jump alone at $399 we'd likely get 9TFLOPS, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, and the console would be even larger and louder than PS4 Pro. DF has already calculated a 2x jump for the same price, not including higher RAM or HDD of course.
We NEED a $499 console for any sort of meaningful jump over the X. We need vapor cooling, 16GB GDDR6, and a 2TB HDD, as well as at least 10TFLOPS. This is $499 territory.
Come on trickster...
Nomura's version of FFvXIII would have demolished FFXV. The only reason it didn't work out was because PS3 couldn't handle it, nothing more, nothing less. Look at the original trailers, they had rooms, not an open world. And extremely small rooms at best. The graphics were not amazing. The game simply wouldn't have worked back then.
And Tabata added almost nothing to the game but fetchquests and Luna.

^can't believe I have disagrees. When PS5 gets BC and sells at a 3:1 margin vs Xbox I'm gonna have this bookmarked for a good laugh.
@Rude-ro
Exactly what I was thinking. Many people didn't switch to PS until PS2, and played PS1 games because of BC.
Now consider this, where many are questioning their Xbox purchases... I've heard from so many that they're jumping ship to PS5, and if it's backwards compatible, PS is gonna slaughter Xbox out of the gate.
Of course, Xbox will be successful, but they'll be losing by an even larger margin to PS5 nex-g...
^KH3 has only been in development for less than 5 years, less than 4 on the new engine. And as far as ARPG systems try to find me one as advanced. I'll wait.
People also act like he didn't do BBS, 3D, 2.8, and assist on other projects during that time.
Let's be honest, the only thing he screwed up on was FFvXIII which happened because PS3 simply couldn't handle it.
If they're going the ARPG route there's nobod...
4K60 with 2x the Ram(~3x the detail) would be hella nice.
Plus, parts 2 and 3 won't be released until PS5 gen anyway.
True, but if we go the ARPG route we need Nomura to do this right, at least to set some ground rules for future directors-
1- keeping magic menus, which Tabata removed for no reason
2- a decent pace. No more needlessly open world.
3- amount of content, and it has to be represented with cutscenes and characters that have interaction. With FFXV all we got was interaction between the boys. Stella was missing, the Empire hardly had any p...
Most AAA games are 10-15 hours and linear. FFVII has a massive world map and can easily clock 50-90 hours or more.
I think the price is plenty fair. This isn't 1997 with Midi tracks and prerendered backgrounds, it's 2018.
Oh come on. KH3 has been in development for less than 5 years, less than 4 on the new engine. Considering it's scope and how it's got one of the most advanced, if not the most advanced ARPG system in history, that's pretty good.
Unneeded spinoffs? More like required.
I think we'll hit 1800p60 in many games, but 4K60 for the majority might be the next console.
I understand having the PS4 Pro to ease the transition to 4K, but don't see a reason for a PS5 Pro:
1- most games will be 4K, others will be damn near it.
Leaving two things they can majorly upgrade:
2- RAM. But do we need devs optimizing textures for 16 and 24 GB varieties? It doesn't make much sense as that's much like remastering. I mean a full 8GB difference is quite a lot. PS4 Pro didn't even increase RAM either for prett...
Same. I'm thinking they're already making 4K textures and it will at least be cross-gen, if not, then PS5-only.
I think FFVIIR can really reach it's Apex on PS5. The "deformed realism" art style looks great on PS4 and is an improvement on Advent Children's sterile realism, but on PS5 we could be seeing something truly timeless.
Damn. Quantic Dream always pulls off visuals on the edge. I mean looking borderline nex-gen.
Considering that PS5 will do even more, I've got some serious hunger for new tech. FFVIIR needs to be a PS5 title guys.
2019 sounds right. Only reason to delay is if they can't get GDDR6 or their APU isn't ready in time.
Uhh seriously? The graphics are pretty great, in some ways cutting edge and it has one of the most advanced, if not the most advanced ARPG system in history. 🙄
The first thing I noticed was the lack of aliasing in Sora's hair. The graphics may have been taken a step further.
One reason I wish all TVs were true 120hz. We could play with 40fps played perfectly(40x3=120) which is enough for that HFR feeling, not too sterile and superimposed either, and leaving plenty of room for other effects like graphics and immersive elements. 40fps would be so perfect.
@gamerzero
It's stuff that nobody wanted in the game. And MH isn't selling on Xbox because PS owners have no incentive to buy one! It requires more than a single game, and a trio like Scalebound, Mistwalker, and Fable is a good start to get some of the RPG fanatics from PlayStation...
I'm kind of into Mario and Yoshi still but feel Switch isn't enough. I'd rather it had online, 8GB RAM, 1.3 or more TFLOPS, and see what Nintendo could produce with that. Infact their art style can make games feel comparable with the mid-gen refreshes with that kind of power.
Games like Xenoblade and Golden Sun could look AMAZING if they had Xbox power, not to mention Pokemon making "the next" jump and the other games.
Also, it'...
Hmm. If I can play Switch games in 4K60 in the near future I might just start playing Nintendo again.
Disagrees explain how we're getting more than a 2x jump for free? Explain where the extra RAM and larger HDD are coming from. Explain where we're getting free vapor cooling and not getting another jet engine and larger console.
DF already calculated approx 2x of a jump from the 7nm node and I'm sticking by them and expecting $449-499
From what we know XB1X is already taking a loss at $499 and we want 2x that at $399?
