Yeah, it sounds like PS5 will be sold at a loss. The good thing is this means the price shouldn't go up by much but we should be getting a decent jump. I'm thinking maybe $429 or something?

It was a fluke, and PS3, the most powerful system, would have won otherwise.
Secondly PS2/GC/Xbox were all in the same class. This gen is showing they're willing to outclass even their own consoles. Jumps are getting lesser with time and people want a greater jump to hold them over, thus the success of the mid-gen consoles.

We won't be getting another reasonable jump until 4nm and that might not be out until 2022 or later and I don't see Sony waiting until then.
Point is waiting might be more negligible than you think. Just look at Intel hardly scratching 10nm... 4nm might be a serious while off.
This pretty much. We'll still be getting multiplats and cross-gen games until 2021 on PS4. That doesn't mean PS5 won't be here before then.

Eonjay- we've gotten KH-BBS, KH3D, and 2.8 though? Secondly, KH3 wasn't announced until 2013, and moved to UE4 in 2014... A 4-5 year development cycle is actually around the same or even less than titles like RRD2 or CyberPunk 2077 and nobody complains about those.

GDDR6 though... It's only 15-20% more expensive than GDDR5 but no card has it yet. 2020 may be realistic for this, but I wouldn't complain in the slightest if we got PS5 in 2019.

If they did a PS4 game in the vein of dragons they should take up Drakengard, since they already do NEIR.
They won't have anything to milk after those games are released though. The next set of games will be PS5 so why even delay it?
The only reason I see it coming out in 2020 is if GDDR6 isn't available until then or a Ryzen 2/Navi chip is possible then.

80 mil means they're already overdue for PS5. The only reason they haven't is because of the final run of games and PS4-Pro. If it weren't for those two factors we might have even gotten PS5 this year.
Basically once the final set of games is out they'll have no reason not to release it.
Pro isn't a new generation... Also what's the point in waiting for 2021? They're likely not getting 4nm by then so we wouldn't be getting much more of a jump. Waiting just means it will be more outdated by time it comes out.
Say 4nm comes out in 2022/2023... Well we just screwed any chance of it being cutting edge by releasing it in 2021.
They should release it next year. So we can ride out the tech on the edge like the old days.
